“What the heck was that?!” Nathan roared from his office intercom, clearly affected by the glitch.
Ethan, who’d just contacted IT, sighed. He’d hoped his boss’s anger had subsided. Of course, the IT department had to mess up now. So, things were back to square one.
With a forced smile, Ethan replied, “Looks like someone hacked the system, Mr. Carter. They’re slipping in and out unnoticed.”
“Tell me something I don’t know!” Nathan snapped at the apparent fact. “What’s the IT department for? Can’t they stop this? Is it that complicated? If they can’t handle this, heads will roll!”
Fury contorted Nathan’s features. The Carter Group prided itself on its impenetrable security.
Day in and day out, they repelled countless hacking attempts, leaving hackers frustrated and defeated.
Today, however, their entire defense system was compromised! How did a hacker breach their top–notch security and firewall? It was a disgrace!
Understanding the gravity of the situation, Ethan spoke nervously, “They’re tracking the hacker and beefing up the defenses. But… it seems like the hacker might not be attempting anything bad?”
Nathan was fuming. “We could’ve lost a lot if someone was trying to mess with us! Tell IT to figure out what went wrong! And if it happens again, they will be fired! We don’t have time for slackers!”
“You got it, boss,” Ethan said seriously.
The IT department was scrambling, but Liam was utterly clueless. He wondered if his dad had seen the -surprise program he put in the Carter Group’s system.
Of course, Olivia was entirely in the dark about all this.
Later, Lucas finally filled her in on their dinner plans. When it was time, she took Liam and Benjamin to meet him.
The restaurant exuded an aura of exclusivity, tucked away from prying eyes. Its opulent décor, adorned with antique furniture and intricately carved doors, provided a sophisticated backdrop for guests to enjoy their meals in privacy.
Olivia entered the room to find King and Lucas already seated, waiting for her.
Meanwhile, Nathan had reluctantly arrived in another private room across the restaurant to join his mother and the Patel family. Their anticipation was palpable as he settled into his seat among them.
Although he hadn’t been enthusiastic about attending, seeing Olivia and King bonding at the hospital had stirred enough emotions in him to agree to the meeting.
The atmosphere was subdued as Nathan joined them, and dinner had just been served.
Emma’s eyes lit up at his arrival. “Hey, so glad you made it!”
She couldn’t believe it when she heard Nathan was coming; now, seeing him for real, it was true. She reached out to take his jacket, wanting to help. “Here, let me hang that for you.”

Lily and Roland, the Patels, had grievances with Nathan. Still, seeing his rise to power in the business world, they kept their mouths shut, knowing they couldn’t afford to get on his bad side.
“Nathan, good you’re here!” they greeted him warmly. “Emma had ordered all your favorites. Go ahead and dig in!”
Nathan nodded and sat down next to Emily. Emma sat beside him, biting her lip and trying to stay positive. Coming to dinner meant he’d reconsider their engagement too. She thought, hopefully.
With a gentle smile, Emma asked, “Hungry? Come, try this,” She grabbed a piece of fish. “This is their specialty. You will love it!”
