Chapter 44: All Must Suffer
The vice principal panicked. “Mr. Stone, you can’t kick me while I’m down! In the past, I’ve always treated you with the utmost respect and sent you gifts on every occasion. Today, I only did this because of your status. How can you turn your back on me like this?”
Sean’s expression darkened, his anger burning. “Have I ever instructed you to do such a thing? It was your arrogance that caused you to act on your own accord. You better confess quickly and don’t drag me down with you!”
“You…” The vice principal’s face turned livid. She hadn’t expected Sean to betray her like this.
If she were to bear the blame for today’s accusations, her professional career would be ruined, and she might even end up in jail. Fear gripped her, and she hurriedly pleaded with Olivia and Nathan.
“Ms. Monroe, Mr. Carter, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have yielded to Sean’s influence and committed such an unethical act. Please spare me and overlook this. I’m begging you…”
As she spoke, she knelt.
Olivia looked at her with undisguised disgust. “Why aren’t you being tough anymore? Where did that arrogant attitude go?”
The vice principal looked embarrassed. “I apologize. I was blind and ignorant…”
Olivia sneered, “You have the nerve to beg for mercy? A social cancer like you will harm other children even if we spare you. You have only yourself to blame. Be prepared to face the consequences of your actions!”
With that said, Olivia averted her gaze in disgust and turned to the police. “Officer, please take them away.”
The police officers nodded and took Sean and the vice principal away.
With the matter concluded, Olivia chose not to dwell on it. Instead, she cradled Liam in her arms.
“Let’s go. We need to get you a check–up at the hospital.”
Liam had injuries on his body. Although they didn’t seem severe, it was better to be safe than sorry.
Nathan hesitated for a moment but did not object. When the three reached the school gate, Ethan had already driven the car over.
Nathan took the car keys and instructed Ethan to stay and handle the aftermath. Then, he drove to send Olivia and Liam to the hospital.
After a thorough examination, the results were out. Apart from some bruising, there were no significant issues.
The doctor said, “I’ll prescribe some ointment to be applied to the bruises when you get home. They should heal in about a week.”
“Okay, thank you, doctor.” Olivia thanked softly, reaching out to take the prescription.
Nathan swiftly accepted it for her, saying, “I’ll go get the ointment. You and Liam should wait for me in the car.”
After saying that, he turned and left. Once outside, he immediately called Evan, “How’s everything on your end?”
Evan replied respectfully, “Mr. Carter, I’ve instructed the lawyer to draft the petition. The police won’t overlook this matter, and the vice principal and Sean will receive the punishment they deserve.”
Nathan’s voice was cold. “Find out if Sean has any relatives working in the education department. Check if they’ve engaged in any unethical activities for personal gain! Also, starting tomorrow, I don’t want to see any of his businesses in Emberfall!”
The assault on Liam had clearly stoked Nathan’s fury. He would not let anyone implicated in it escape the consequences.
Ethan answered, “Yes, Mr. Carter.”
After the call ended, Nathan quickly collected the ointment and went to the parking lot to meet with Olivia.
Liam was exhausted from crying and the checkup. He had fallen asleep in Olivia’s arms.
Nathan glanced at the boy and patted his head. Then, he handed the ointment to Olivia.
Olivia accepted it, momentarily pausing before expressing her gratitude, saying, “I appreciate your help today.”
