Chapter 42: I’ll Do Anything
Sean never expected to see Nathan in this place. What was even more shocking was that the child was Nathan’s son.
Did I encourage my son to beat up Nathan’s child? Sean’s face turned pale. He was about to intervene, trying to stop the vice principal from courting disaster.
But then, Nathan narrowed his eyes at Sean, making him shiver uncontrollably.
Nathan did not recognize Sean. He remained expressionless as he asked, “Who is this person?”
Olivia promptly explained who Sean was and recounted what had happened earlier. Nathan’s expression grew colder with every word she spoke.
By the time Olivia finished explaining, Sean was visibly shaken.
Unfortunately, the vice principal was oblivious to the danger she was in. “Mr. Stone’s relative works in the education department. Expelling William is a lenient punishment. You should be grateful…”
“You fool, shut up!” Sean finally snapped, unable to bear the vice principal’s words any longer. He wished he could silence her permanently.
The vice principal was left dumbfounded by Sean’s sudden outburst. However, before she could collect herself, Sean, visibly trembling, rushed to Nathan and apologized profusely, “Mr. Carter… I’m sorry. I had no idea this boy was your son. That’s why I acted recklessly. You are a magnanimous man. Please forgive me.”
As soon as these words were uttered, the vice principal was shocked. Disbelief was written all over her face. Even Ms. Hayes was at a loss for words.
Olivia was surprised. Did Sean know Nathan?
In actuality, Sean had only seen Nathan at a banquet. Sean was a minor figure, worlds apart from the echelons of the upper crust. However, he was aware of Nathan’s authority. He knew Nathan could easily make or break him.
Nathan’s expression turned icy as he regarded Sean like a mere ant. “You seem to have some connections, huh? You have relatives in the education department capable of manipulating the kindergarten staff to serve your purposes?”
Sean’s legs nearly gave out in fear. “No, no… I was wrong. It was a lapse in judgment. Mr. Carter, I sincerely apologize to you and your family. I’m truly sorry! I was informed that someone attacked my son, and in my haste, I made a rash mistake!”
Surprisingly, he shifted the blame onto the vice principal. But the vice principal was not a fool. She knew Nathan was an influential person, judging from Sean’s attitude. Now being scapegoated, she stammered, “Mr. Stone, how could you say that? I was only trying to protect your son…”
“Shut up, you fool!”
Sean could not contain his anger. “If you hadn’t insisted my son was attacked, claiming another student hit him first, how would I have lost my composure?”
The vice principal’s expression turned pale.
Olivia was amused as she observed their infighting. However, it did not mean she would let them off the hook so easily!
“Do you think the matter can be resolved with just an apology? How optimistic of you?”
The vice principal and Sean froze, trembling as they looked at Olivia.
Sean took the initiative to ask, “Mrs. Carter, what… what are your orders? I’ll do anything as long as you can forgive me!”
Olivia did not bother to correct his mistake. Instead, she turned to Ms. Hayes. “Call the principal and tell him to review the surveillance footage. There must have been a few children present during the fight. I want to know the truth!”
Ms. Hayes promptly replied, “Certainly, I’ll go fetch the principal immediately.”
Shortly after, Ms. Hayes brought the principal to the scene.
Upon learning about the incident, the principal promptly dispatched someone to review the surveillance footage. Half an hour later, the results were in – Brody initiated the fight. Other students also provided testimonies, confirming that Brody had struck first and taunted Liam.
Olivia’s expression turned cold. “The truth has been revealed! In that case, I won’t hold back!”
With those words, she promptly contacted the police!
