Chapter 21 – Change the Results
Emily was already near the DNA testing center.
After hanging up, her face darkened, and her brows furrowed deeply.
From the moment Olivia had reappeared in their lives, Emily had people monitoring Nathan, fearing that he would get involved with that woman again.
That was how she had discovered the DNA test.
But no matter how much she prepared herself, she never expected the results to confirm it.
Olivia was alive.
And worse—
She had returned with Nathan’s child!
A cold shiver ran down Emily’s spine as she called the doctor at the DNA testing center once more.
“Are the results out?” Her voice was clipped, sharp.
The doctor hesitated before answering. “Mrs. Carter, yes. The test results confirm a 99.99% probability—Nathan Carter is the child’s biological father.”
Emily’s pupils shrank.
Her worst fear had come true.
Liam was Nathan’s son.
She had suspected it—after all, the child bore an undeniable resemblance to Nathan’s younger self. Others might not notice, but as his mother, she could see it clearly.
And yet—she refused to accept it.
The mere thought that this child carried Olivia’s blood disgusted her.
With Nathan’s personality, if he found out Liam was his son, he would never let him go. Worse, he might even rekindle things with that woman!
Emily’s fingers clenched the phone tightly.
No.
I won’t allow it.
Olivia was a criminal—unworthy of being a Carter or bearing one!
Nathan was still young. He had a fiancée. A child would come from that relationship eventually.
Emily’s expression hardened with resolve.
Her voice was cold as ice when she spoke.
“Change it. Change the results.”

Meanwhile, Nathan’s car pulled up in front of the DNA testing center.
As Ethan parked, another luxury vehicle arrived.
Emily stepped out, her demeanor poised and elegant. Her fitted dress highlighted her noble presence, though the sharp glint in her eyes betrayed her true thoughts.
She barely glanced at Olivia before greeting her son.
“Nathan.”
Olivia met Emily’s gaze but said nothing.
She didn’t acknowledge her. Didn’t even spare her a greeting.
As if she were invisible.
Emily’s expression darkened at the blatant disrespect, but she swallowed her irritation.
Nathan, oblivious to the tension, spoke coolly. “Let’s go.”
They made their way into the DNA testing center, heading straight to Dr. Ricker’s office.
The moment they entered, the doctor stood and greeted them respectfully.
“Hello, Mrs. Carter. Hello, Mr. Carter. Please, have a seat.”
Nathan wasted no time.
“Are the results out?”
Dr. Ricker nodded. “Yes, the test results are ready and enclosed in this sealed envelope.”
Emily’s eyes flickered toward the envelope.
She leaned forward slightly, her voice carefully controlled.
“You’ve double-checked them, haven’t you? There won’t be any mistakes?”
The doctor tensed under her sharp gaze.
“Yes, Mrs. Carter. There won’t be any mistakes. I—I wouldn’t dare make an error in something this important,” he stammered, clearly uneasy.
Emily exhaled subtly, relieved.
Nathan, focused on the envelope, didn’t notice the brief exchange.
But Olivia did.
She watched Emily’s expression, noting every flicker of emotion.
So that’s it…
She sneered inwardly.
The results must have originally confirmed Nathan and Liam’s relationship. But now? Emily had undoubtedly pulled one of her dirty tricks.
Olivia kept her expression neutral.
In a way, this was a relief.
If the results say they aren’t related… Nathan won’t try to take Liam away from me, right?
She would let Emily play her little games—for now.

Liam, however, was slower to catch on.
His big, bright eyes flickered with confusion before shifting into deep hurt.
He turned to Nathan, his tiny hands clutching his shirt.
“Don’t you believe me, Daddy?” His voice trembled slightly.
“Why do we have to do this again? I—I already had a DNA test before! It’s real! It’s the truth! I’m your son!”
His innocent, pleading words echoed in the cold, sterile room.
Nathan looked down at the boy, a strange emotion flickering in his eyes.
But before he could say a word, Dr. Ricker handed him the envelope.
And Nathan tore it open.
