Chapter 185 Ask Him Out
Without delay, Benjamin and King Spades immediately took action following Olivia’s plan.
Meanwhile, at the hotel, Ethan arrived with Liam.
“Mr. Ethan, where is my dad?” the boy asked adorably as soon as he got out of the car.
Glancing at his watch, Ethan replied with a smile, “Your dad is probably still busy. Let’s head back to the room and wait for him.”
“All right.” Liam obediently nodded.
It was already noon by the time the grand opening party of the resort concluded. Nathan, who had been busy all morning, was preparing to leave the venue.
At that moment, Emma approached, suggesting, “Nate, let’s you, me, and Mrs. Carter have lunch together.”
“No, I can’t. Ethan is here, and I still have some work to attend to,” Nathan coldly rejected her, disregarding the dim look of disappointment on Emma’s face as he walked away briskly.
Emma watched as he walked away, her hands clenched tightly. Her face, adorned with exquisite makeup, was etched with resentment.
He’d better be telling the truth about having work. I won’t have it if this is just some sort of lousy excuse he came up with to avoid having lunch with me.
Nathan returned to the presidential suite at the top floor of the hotel. As soon as he opened the door, a petite figure came rushing toward him.
He quickly embraced the boy who threw himself into his arms, his icy gaze becoming tender.
“Daddy!” Liam wrapped his arms around Nathan’s neck, his face beaming with a radiant smile. “This place is so beautiful.”
The suite had a grand floor–to–ceiling window that offered a sweeping view of the entire scenic area.
Liam went straight for the floor–to–ceiling window upon entering, squatting there for a long time, engrossed in the view. It was only after he heard the sound of the door opening that he walked away.
The corners of Nathan’s lips curled into a tender smile. He affectionately pinched the boy’s nose, asking, “Do you like it here?”
“Yes.” Liam nodded fervently, as if afraid he wouldn’t believe him.
“I’m glad you like it.” Nathan set him down, then continued, “Daddy will be quite busy today, but I will have some free time in the next couple of days. I’ll take you out for some fun, all right?”
“All right.” Liam agreed. His father’s company was all he wanted.
He glanced around, then asked, “Where’s Mommy? Can I see her?”
He had been here for quite some time, yet he still hadn’t seen his mother.
Nathan tousled the boy’s hair, replying tenderly, “Your mom hasn’t arrived yet. She’ll probably only be here
“Oh.”
Noticing Liam seemed to be a bit downcast, Nathan flashed a slight smile and said, “I can keep you company here this afternoon.”
A smile once again returned to the boy’s face.
After lunch, Nathan kept his promise and remained in the room to sort out work matters.
“No matter who comes, don’t let them in unless the evening banquet’s about to start,” Nathan instructed Ethan, who nodded and said, “Understood.”
Around two in the afternoon, there came a knock at the door.
After glancing at Nathan, who was engrossed in his work, Ethan quickly walked over to open the door.
Emma was standing outside.
When Emma saw Ethan, she flashed a gentle smile and said, “I’m here to invite Nate out for a stroll. The scenery here is too beautiful to miss.”
She was about to enter the door after explaining, but Ethan quickly stopped her.
Emma frowned in displeasure. “Ethan, what are you doing?”
“Mr. Carter didn’t get much sleep last night and is currently resting. Ms. Patel, could you please come back later?” Ethan said, lying with a straight face.
“I see.” Emma glanced into the room but didn’t see Nathan. Left without a choice, she could only give up. “All right, I’ll come back later then.”
Watching her leave tactfully, Ethan smirked before shutting the door.
Around three in the afternoon, at the back entrance of the Golden Charm Club, a train brimming with a variety of premium ingredients came to a halt.
Two men, donning caps, hopped out of the car. They adjusted their caps and scanned their surroundings cautiously. Only after exchanging a glance to confirm the coast was clear did they approach to knock on the door.
Someone quickly came to open the door. Seeing them dressed in the uniform of a transport company, the person who came to get the door did not doubt and allowed them entry.
The two men began moving items into the back kitchen, and once they were done, they slipped unnoticed into the elevator, pressing the button for the bottom floor.
The elevator ascended slowly. The two men lifted their heads, their faces reflected on the elevator doors.
They were none other than Benjamin and King Spades.
