Chapter 146 A Girlfriend
In the evening, as soon as Olivia finished work, she headed to the kindergarten to pick up Liam.
Upon arriving at the kindergarten, she was surprised to see Nathan there as well, causing her delicate eyebrows to furrow. Why is he here?
Seeing her, Liam rushed over to her, wrapping his arms around her legs and looking up at her. His voice still carried the lilt of infancy as he asked, “Mommy, can we have dinner with Daddy tonight?”
Olivia lowered her gaze, meeting Liam’s hopeful eyes. She shook her head, her voice cold as she replied, “No.”
Liam hadn’t anticipated her rejection and was instantly flustered. “Why?”
Olivia crouched down, her hand gently brushing his face as she softly said, “Because I still have some work to do.”

Nathan’s low, resonant voice fell upon Olivia’s ears. Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly as she detected the sarcasm in his words.
“If you’re busy, I’ll take Liam myself,” Nathan added.
Olivia pinched the palm of her hand, stood up, and faced him expressionlessly. A hint of mockery tugged at the corner of her mouth when she asked, “How does a busy person like you have time to accompany Liam, Mr. Carter? Are you planning to have him dine with others?”
Nathan’s eyebrows lifted slightly. Something about that statement didn’t quite sound right, did it? Is it because of the tabloid news about me that circulated today?
A subtle emotion flickered in his eyes, yet Nathan said with an unruffled calm, “That’s doable!”
Olivia’s face instantly turned sour when she heard that. It seems the news is indeed true.
She chuckled coldly and said, “Mr. Carter, although I agreed that you can see Liam whenever you want, I can change my mind at any moment.”
So, is she threatening me? Nathan raised an eyebrow and said, “If you’re not at ease, why don’t you come along?”
After he finished speaking, he gave her a profound look. Then, he waved at Liam and said, “Liam, come over here. Let’s go have dinner together.”
Liam lifted his head and cast Olivia a helpless glance. Mommy seems really upset. If I were to go with Daddy, she would surely be even more cross. However, I also want to ask Daddy about the news I heard today.
After a considerable internal debate, Liam, with his short strides, ran over and took Nathan’s hand.
“Liam!” Olivia scolded softly.
“Sorry, Mommy,” Liam apologized and got into Nathan’s car.

After Liam had settled into the car, Nathan turned his head slightly, casting a sidelong glance at Olivia. “Are you getting in or
not?”
Olivia shot him a glare, her anger nearly palpable. Yet, the mere thought of him dining with Liam and some other woman was something she simply couldn’t stomach.
And so, she quickly got into the car, then forcefully shut the car door.
The corners of Nathan’s mouth curved up in an almost imperceptible smirk. He settled into the car, turned to Liam, and asked, “What would you like to eat?”
