The sight of her slender figure stirred a memory in Nathan. He thought back to five years ago, when the young Olivia was by his side, taking care of him. Unable to contain his emotions, he instinctively reached out and grasped her hand.
Olivia was taken aback, swiftly turning her head. “Nathan, what are you trying to do?”
Her response was met with a profound silence.
Immediately after, she felt the world spin around her as Nathan pulled her into his embrace.
Olivia panicked, struggling as she said, “Nathan, have you lost your mind? Let go of me, now!”
Her movements were too rough, causing Nathan to grunt softly, It was apparent that he was in pain.
Olivia’s heart softened as she subconsciously eased her movements, yet she still desired to break free from his embrace.
She was afraid he would lose control just like that night. She really didn’t want to get involved with him again.
At that moment, the soft voice of Nathan echoed in her car. “I might faint from the pain. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before…”
The voice paused for a moment, then continued, “If you leave, there will be no one to call an ambulance for me in the middle of the night. Please, stay.”
Is he trying to play the pity card? I absolutely can’t afford to waver!
Olivia quietly warned herself, then spoke coldly. “Ethan must be here somewhere.”
“He isn’t. He had left a while ago.”
Upon hearing this, Olivia frowned. “Well, you could ask him to come over. I’ll make the call for you.”
No matter what, there was no way she would stay.
Gently breaking free from his embrace, Olivia got up to call Ethan.
Nathan watched her retreating figure, a bitter smile escaping from the corner of his mouth. Is staying so difficult for her?
A heavy weight seemed to settle over his heart, causing great sorrow. Coupled with the sporadic stomach cramps, he slowly closed his eyes.
“Hello, the number you’ve dialed is currently unavailable…”
A cold feminine voice echoed from the handset, causing Olivia to hang up in frustration as she clenched her cellphone tightly.
I was summoned to the hotel, where I waited for a full five hours. Then, as if on cue, his stomach begins to ache and I can’t get through to Ethan on the phone!
Olivia seriously suspected that everything was premeditated.

She turned to confront Nathan, only to find him seemingly on the brink of passing out from the pain. His tall figure had curled up due to the agony.
Upon seeing him on the couch, Olivia ultimately couldn’t bear to leave.
“Olivia, even if you are just a friend now, you should have stayed to look after him!” she told herself.
With a deep sigh, she moved to the couch on the other side, tucking her legs up and wrapping her arms around her knees. Her gaze fell upon the pale, handsome face of Nathan.
His eyes were tightly shut, his sharp, beautiful eyebrows furrowed deeply.
Clearly, he had genuinely succumbed to pain and fallen asleep. His usually stern face had lost its intimidating aura, becoming somewhat gentler.
There was an inexplicable feeling of being worlds apart.
Olivia watched him in silence as time ticked away. When the clock struck midnight, she could no longer keep her eyes open. Leaning against the couch, she fell asleep.
The room was so quiet that the only sound was the steady rhythm of someone breathing.
In the middle of the night, Nathan leisurely opened his eyes. He sat up, reached for the glass of water that was placed on the coffee table, and took a sip.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a figure leaning against the couch. He slowly put down his drink, turned his head, and stared intently.
He couldn’t help but rise and walk over, closely observing Olivia as she peacefully slept.
When she woke up, she looked especially endearing, devoid of her usual indifference toward him. It was strikingly similar to how she was five years ago. Every time he opened his eyes, that was the sight he would
see.
The indifference in his eyes gradually faded. Nathan bent down and gently lifted the sleeping figure in his
arms.
