“Ms. Monroe, you better think carefully about how to handle this,” Nathan said, giving her a thoughtful
gaze.
Olivia lost her composure instantly and was unable to hold back from mocking him, “Mr. Carter, you’re quite the saint! I bet a lot of people are dying for this project. Why on earth would you give it to me?”
She knew there was no such thing as a free lunch.
Given her understanding of him, she was certain that everything he did had a purpose.
Nathan’s expression darkened as he retorted, “What do you think it’s for? Surely it can’t be for you…”

The two exchanged glances, and after a long pause, Nathan finally continued, “If you insist on an answer, I can only say I did it on Liam’s account.”
So this is all because of Liam?
An indescribable emotion swept across the depths of her heart.
Olivia clenched the documents in her hand, pushing away the cloudy emotions deep within her heart. She nodded and said, “In that case, I will go back and think it over carefully.”
If he was genuinely interested in collaboration, she would certainly give it serious consideration.
As soon as the words were spoken, silence once again enveloped the surroundings.
Olívia pursed her lips, then asked, “Is that all?”
Receiving no response, she assumed everything was fine. So, she said, “Well, I’m leaving now.”
Just as she was about to turn around, Nathan stood up and said, “It’s quite late. Let me send you home.”
“No…”
As Olivia turned around, she was just about to reject him when she noticed that his face had turned pale, while he stumbled in his steps.
She furrowed her brows with a hesitant expression as she asked, “What… What’s wrong with you?”
“It’s nothing.” Nathan slightly furrowed his brows but quickly regained his composure.
He steadied himself, looked up at her, and said, “I just remembered I have some matters to attend to. I’ll have someone send you.”
Olivia hesitated for a moment. He really doesn’t look too good.
She wanted to say something more, but the words stopped at the tip of her tongue, remaining unspoken. In the end, she just nodded, turning around to leave.
Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks.

Olivia clenched her fists tightly, hesitating for a moment. Then, she loosened her grip, turned around, and her gaze fell on his pale face. In a probing tone, she asked, “Does your stomach feel unwell?”
Back then, when she was still with the Carter family, Nathan often neglected his meals in order to shoulder the heavy burden of running Carter Group.
There was a time when he even suffered from gastrointestinal bleeding. Ever since then, his stomach has remained quite weak.
Back then, in order to aid his digestion, she would often make him nourishing stews.
The current situation was strikingly similar to the time when he fell ill years ago.
It turned out that she still remembered that he suffered from gastritis.
A faint glimmer sparked in Nathan’s eyes as he looked at her. In a daze, he found himself reminiscing about the days she had spent by his side and the stew she used to prepare.

“Mr. Carter?” Olivia called out, noticing his somewhat distracted state.
Her voice pulled him back from his thoughts. Nathan’s expression turned grim as he assured her that he was fine.

Seeing the cold sweat breaking out on his forehead, Olivia gritted her teeth, stepped forward, and helped him to the couch. She then took a tissue from the side and gently wiped away his sweat.
Nathan leaned back against the couch, his face unusually pale. His normally cool and calm eyes were slightly closed, and one hand was pressed against his aching stomach.
“Do you have any gastric medicine?” Olivia asked.
