Chapter 102 I have Waited For Five Years

Olivia walked over and settled down on the couch. The dinner spread was lavish, but she had little appetite. She merely picked up a glass of water from the table and took a sip.
The room was spacious and incredibly quiet.
Olivia thought that Nathan would be back soon, but contrary to her expectations, she ended up waiting for a long time. Even by eight o’clock, he still hadn’t shown up.
She simply couldn’t wait any longer, so she reluctantly got up to ask Ethan about it.
Little did she know that Ethan had already left.
Left with no other choice, she could only continue to wait.
Time flew swiftly and before she knew it, it was already ten o’clock. Olivia was waiting to the point she was almost falling asleep.
Meanwhile, in the conference room upstairs, Nathan had already wrapped up the meeting and finished his business dealings.
In truth, he was intentionally making her wait.
“Mr. Carter, Ms. Monroe is still downstairs.” Unaware of Nathan’s thoughts, Ethan felt the need to remind him.
It seemed as if Nathan hadn’t heard anything. He stood in front of the floor–to–ceiling window, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a glass of wine. His gaze was deep, overlooking the night view of Emberfall.
After a while, he took a light sip of his wine, the look in his eyes softening slightly. Turning around, he placed the wine on the table and strode out.
Back in the hotel room, it was quiet.
Glancing at the time on her phone, Olivia frowned slightly, a hint of impatience surfacing on her face.
Could it be that Nathan is messing with me? He summoned me, only to have me wait this long!
She couldn’t help but feel a surge of anger in her heart. Abruptly, she rose to her feet and stormed out.
Given that he had stood her up, there was no need for her to keep waiting.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she opened the door, she nearly collided head–on with Nathan who was just outside.
Olivia steadied herself, her expression icy as she stared at the man before her.
After such a long wait, he finally decides to show up!
Nathan’s eyebrows furrowed as he asked in a deep voice, “Where are you going?”
“I was starting to think that you weren’t Mr. Carter going to show up after having me wait for so long for no reason. If you’re busy next time, it would be nice if you could let me know!”

However, the doorway was narrow, and Nathan’s towering figure was blocking it, leaving absolutely no gap for her to slip through.
“Is that the limit of your patience? But it’s only been five hours.” Nathan’s thin lips parted slightly, his deep voice laced with a hint of sarcasm.
He lowered his darkened gaze, which fell upon the top of her head. Within his eyes, something seemed to have stirred.
She can’t even wait five hours, yet I have waited… for five years.
After hearing his words, Olivia was furious. She glared at him, “Mr. Carter, five hours is a long time to me.”
Nathan cast her a glance, his face devoid of any expression. He didn’t say a word, simply walking past her into the room.
Olivia clenched her hands tightly, her face tense, for she was genuinely angry.
How can he make me wait this long, yet didn’t even offer a single apology?
At that moment, a voice echoed from behind. “Come in.”
Olivia really wanted to just leave, but recalling his words, she turned around, her gaze coldly landing on the man in the room.
“Whatever it is, we can speak at the door.”
Nathan looked at the woman standing at the door. Despite her seemingly indifferent expression, he could still sense her wariness.
He couldn’t help but snigger. “What’s the matter? Are you worried that I’ll do something to you?”
Olivia’s breath hitched.
Truth be told, she hadn’t thought that far initially. She simply didn’t want to be alone with him in the room.
Now that he brought it up, it did instill a bit of fear in her.
The image of him kissing her that night surfaced in her mind vividly, as if it had just happened.
Moreover, she had detected the scent of alcohol on him earlier. What if he loses control again? What would I do then?
With this in mind, Olivia was even less inclined to go in.
