- Chapter 7
- Amanda casually wiped her mouths, dialed 911, and told them everything that had happened. Her actions were smooth and efficient, leaving Anton stummed.
- Anton stared at Amanda and stammered, “H–How did you do that?”
- He had been following Amanda the whole time, watching her toss stones around. It seemed like she hadn’t done anything. Anton was completely puzzled, and he looked at Amanda in confusion.
- Amanda wasn’t hiding anything. She pointed to the stones on the ground and said, “That’s a Confusion Formation. Works like a drug, but with a wider range. It knocks everyone in the circle out cold.”
- Anton’s mind raced. So that’s how it works. It’s hard to believe, but it is real. There are actual formations like this in the world: But then he remembered he was dead now, and it all made sense. He was more accepting of it.
- Amanda had specifically called 911 from the city, since the villagers were clearly too bold, and there were probably some of their people in the town as well
- Learning that the villagers here were all involved in human trafficking, the police took it seriously and immediately assigned a squad to deal with it.
- When the police arrived, they were taken aback. They saw a young girl sitting casually on the doorstep, waving at them. For a moment, they weren’t sure what to think.
- “It’s you!” The leader of the squad stared at Amanda in surprise.
- Amanda glanced up and immediately recognized him–the cop who went to arrest Peter earlier. He was in his forties, with tanned skin and a serious expression. He looked a bit intimidating, but he had the face of a good man.
- Seeing a familiar face, Amanda flashed him a bright smile,
- The leader, Billy Blaine, looked at her, then at the unconscious villagers, and frowned. “You knocked them all ou
- you do it?”
- Amanda didn’t answer his question but simply said, “Just cuff them first.
- How did
- Billy immediately cuffed those villagers, but then something strange happened. The cops all suddenly felt a bit dizzy. Just then, Amanda kicked a stone across the ground, and in an instant, everyone regained their senses. The villagers slowly woke up. groggy and confused.
- As the villagers realized what had happened, their faces twisted in anger. They started to hurl bad words at Amanda.
- An elderly woman said, “You little brat, how dare you?”
- A middle–aged man added, “Let us go. My son is the deputy captain at the town’s police station.”
- Amanda clapped her hands and looked at Billy. “Don’t forget to arrest her son too.”
- The speaker froze in shock, his voice dying in her throat.
- Selena reacted the fastest, and she spoke up in a soft tone, “Officer, I think there’s been a misunderstanding. This girl’s our relative. She came back today, and we invited her to dinner. Look, we even made so much delicious food for her.”
- As Selena was trying to cover up, Amanda took Selena’s phone out and unlocked it after scanning Selena’s face. Amanda opened the chat logs and showed the screen directly to Billy. The logs were filled with messages between Selena and the traffickers and buyers.
- Billy’s face went dark, and he snapped at his men, “Take them away.”
- He hated human traffickers more than anything, and he added, “Don’t miss a single one.
- No matter how much the villagers screamed about being innocent, the evidence was clear, and there was no room for them to
- argue.
- After they were taken away, Billy turned to Amanda and asked, “How did you end up here?*
- Chapter 7
- “I got sold, officer. Now that I’ve caught all these traffickers, do I get a reward?” Amanda rubbed her hands together, looking
- cager
- Billy couldn’t help but smile at her greedy expression and nodded. “Yes, you do. Come on, I’ll take you home?
- Amanda shook her head, looking pitiful. “I don’t have a home anymore. The one who sold me to them was actually my family.”
- Billy’s face darkened with anger, and he promised, “Trust me. I’ll make sure your family gets the punishment they deserve?
- He was genuinely furious about what Amanda had gone through, and Amanda felt a warm feeling in her chest. But she sighed, “Officer. I’m afraid you won’t be able to do much to them.”
- Billy didn’t believe her and took Amanda back to the police station.
- When the other officers learned about her situation, they all gave her sympathetic looks, and some even handed her a bunch of snacks and fruits
- Amanda was over the moon, thanking everyone non–stop, which made them like her even more.
- Just then, Billy cleared his throat, and immediately, everyone returned to their duties.
- Amanda noticed Billy and waved cheerfully to him. Billy brushed aside his emotions and walked over to her.
- Amanda asked, “So, did they say what they’ve done?”
- Billy’s face clouded, and he replied with a sigh, “They’re old pros in this. We didn’t get anything out of them.”
- Amanda glanced around the office, and finally, her eyes fell on a piece of paper on the desk. She asked, “Can I borrow this?”
- Billy nodded, not sure what she was up to. Then, he watched as she started drawing strange symbols on the paper.
- Soon, Amanda finished drawing, and she handed the paper to Billy. “Here, put this on them, then ask again. They’ll tell y
- I you whatever they know.”
- Billy looked at the strange symbols on the paper, completely confused. “What is this?”
- Amanda replied, “Truth–telling Talisman.”
- Billy frowned and thought, “What the hell? Is she watching too many TV series?
- But anyway, he had to keep going with the investigation. He shook his head, decided not to take her words seriously, and went back to the interrogation room.
- His colleagues gave him an exasperated look as he walked in. They hadn’t gotten anywhere with the suspect.
- Billy walked over and clapped the man on the shoulder, threatening. Tell us the truth, and we might be able to reduce your sentence. Otherwise, once we figure it out, you won’t get a chance.”
- As he tapped that suspect’s shoulder, the paper from Amarda accidentally brushed against him.
- Billy’s colleague sighed, feeling like it was a lost cause. He’d already tried everything, but the suspect was slippery, avoiding questions with a smug grin, and refusing to confess.
- Just as he was about to try a different approach, he heard the suspect suddenly say, “Yeah, I’m a trafficker. The whole village is involved in human trafficking”
- Billy and his colleague both stared at the man, shock written all over their faces.
- The suspect froze for a brief second and immediately covered his mouth, but his words kept spilling out uncontrollably. “Not only do we buy, but we sell. We’re in contact with traffickers all over the city. They are…”
- He spilled the names and addresses of other traffickers, leaving Billy and his colleague dumbfounded. They thought the suspect was losing his mind.
- The suspect himself looked equally shocked and panicked, clearly realizing he couldn’t stop himself from talking.
- Billy’s eyes fell to the paper Amanda had given him, and he thought, Could it be the talisman is working?

- Chapter 7
- He tentatively took the paper away, and the suspect immediately corrected himself. “I was just making it up, officer. We’re good people, really.”
- Billy put the paper back on him, and the man instantly started confessing again. “What a load of crap. Half the traffickers on your wanted list are from our village. We’ve got people everywhere, not just in Silvermoor, but all over the country.
- Billy took the paper away, and the man immediately switched back to denial. Tm a good
- Billy moved the paper again, and the man cursed, “Bullshit. We’re human traffickers.”
- Billy couldn’t help but marvel inwardly, Holy crap, this paper really works.”
