- Chapter 22
- Seeing Belinda’s expression, Amanda felt a sense of satisfaction. She silently mocked, ‘I bet you regret insulting me now. Never mess with someone from the Mystical Arts Circle, especially not the petty ones. Got it?
- Anton and Damion floated inside and checked out the places Amanda had mentioned, then gave her a thumbs–up. “Damn, you nailed it, not a single mistake.”
- Amanda tilted her chin, showing a smug smile on her face. “Of course, never underestimate me.”
- Trey didn’t need to double–check. Just looking at Belinda’s face told him Amanda was right. He became even more respectful toward her. He said, “Ms. Corkery, my son…
- “Let’s go check on him first,” Amanda cut him off.
- As they were about to leave, Blake stopped them, looking pretty pissed. Trey, you really trust this girl? Let her do the divination? What is she gonna do, some kind of voodoo magic?”
- Blake eyed Amanda from top to bottom, his brow furrowing tighter. His eyes were full of disapproval as he thought, “Instead pf learning something useful, she’s into fortune–telling.’
- Trey also thought Amanda was too young, but after seeing her abilities earlier, he had no choice but to believe her.
- He looked at Blake and said, “Thanks for coming, but please rest in the guest room for now. Tomorrow, you can check on
- Connor.”
- In other words, he meant Amanda would go first.
- Blake was so angry that his beard trembled. He wanted to storm off, but he couldn’t bear to leave the patient, so he reluctantly said, “Fine. I’ll go with you, and I want to see how she’s going to save him.”
- Trey didn’t respond but just looked at Amanda. Amanda shrugged and said, “Sure, whatever.”
- Trey gestured to them and said. “After you guys.”
- Bella ran out of the house when she saw Amanda, her eyes lighting up.
- Amanda waved back at her, ruffling her hair while speaking, “Good girl, go get some sleep. By morning, your brother will be up and playing with you”
- “Really?” Bella asked, her face full of hope.
- Amanda nodded. She knew the scene coming up would be pretty grim, and Bella was still young. It was

- Thankfully, Bella was easy to handle, and she quickly went back to her room.
- Amanda didn’t need Trey to guide her. She took one look around and immediately found Connor’s room. It was the one with the most intense dark energy
- When she saw Connor lying on the bed, Amanda’s eyes lit up. She muttered, “I know why.”
- “What do you mean? Trey asked.
- Amanda didn’t answer directly but asked, “Mr. Wilson, after your son’s accident, did anyone around you who was supposed to die suddenly come back to life?”
- Trey thought hard for a while, and his eyes suddenly widened. He replied, “Yes, I know one.”
- He gritted his teeth, and through clenched jaws, he muttered a name, “Marcus White.”
- That was his rival’s father. The father of the same man Belinda had been having an affair with.
- Amanda immediately understood the situation. She looked at Trey with a hint of sympathy and said, “Don’t feel too bad. At least you are her official husband while he’s the other man. You’ve got the upper hand on that.”
- Trey’s lips twitched, and he fought the urge to curse. Inside, he muttered, ‘Don’t comfort me if you don’t know how
- Chapter 22
- Anton and Damion exchanged a look. They couldn’t believe it either. Every time Amanda tried to comfort someone, it was like she tried to make them choke on their own frustration.
- Amanda, totally oblivious to the awkwardness, thought she was a kind person.
- Changing the subject, Trey asked, “Does this have something to do with Connor?”
- “Yeah,” Amanda nodded and explained, “He took your son’s life. That’s why Connor’s in such a state. This kind of soul- swapping thing requires a medium. Did your son ever receive anything from Marcus?
- Trey shook his head. Their two families were bitter enemies. There was no way Connor would have accepted anything from them unless… The possibility hit him, and his face turned grim.
- Trey stormed outside, grabbed Belinda by the collar, and questioned. Tell me, what did you take from the White family and give to Connor? If you don’t spill, you’re gonna spend the rest of your life in prison.”
- Knowing how ruthless he could be, Belinda shuddered, too scared to lie. She then confessed everything.
- The answer made Trey’s face even darker. He stormed back to Connor’s room and took the protective charm off his son’s neck
- It was a gift from Belinda two years ago. She claimed she’d gotten it through prayer, and back then, Trey had been touched by how much she cared for his kids. Now he realized it had all been a manipulation.
- Thinking back. Trey remembered that Connor’s accident had happened the day after he put on that charm.
- Trey cursed himself for not figuring it out earlier.
- Amanda examined the charm for a moment and then tapped her fingers lightly. A design soon appeared on the back of the
- charm.
- Both Trey and Blake were stunned, and they asked in unison, “What’s this?”
- “Life–exchanging Talisman, Amanda explained.
- Then she took out a talisman and placed it on the charm. In an instant, the charm exploded into ashes.
- Connor, still lying in bed, suddenly opened his eyes. His voice was weak as he called out, “Dad.”
- Trey’s eyes filled with joy. “Oh, son, you’re awake.”
- Trey rushed over, checking on Connor carefully and turning to Amanda. “Ms. Corkery, is he alright now?”
- “Hold on.” Amanda said. “I’ll give him a talisman to carry with him every day You’ll need to make sure he gets plenty of sunlight.
- “But the thing is, his life was used up by another man for two years. His own life expectancy is shorter than it was before, so he won’t live as long
- Trey’s heart dropped, and he asked, “How long will he live?
- He was terrified of hearing just a few more years.
- Amanda did some quick divinations and replied, “He’ll probably make it to 80. He was supposed to live to 89,”
- Hearing the answer, Trey breathed a sigh of relief. He figured the last few years would be full of illness, so maybe it was better
- not to live that long. The most important thing was that his son was alive now, and he had no more requests
- Speing his relief, Amanda added, “Don’t get too happy just yet. He’s gonna have a bit more bad luck.”
- Trey asked, “Is it fatal?”
- “No, not fatal.”
- “Well, that’s a relief.”
- He was already optimistic, so Amanda didn’t feel the need to elaborate.
- ୦
- Chapter 22
- Trey was genuinely grateful. He had money, and with his son alive, he didn’t care much about the rest. Bad luck was fine as long as Connor was breathing.
- Connor, still lying on the bed, looked confused. He was about to speak when suddenly, the bed collapsed.
- Trey stared at the scene, dumbfounded.
- Amanda shrugged and said. “See? Bad luck.”
- Trey hadn’t fully understood just how bad the luck would be. He thought to himself, “Well, whatever, at least he’s alive. But can he really live to 80? Anyway, since Amanda says he can, I guess he will.
- Trey ordered someone to move Connor to the next room. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he looked at Amanda with a face full of gratitude and said, “I really can’t thank you enough today.”
- He took out a card and handed it to her. “This is a small token of my appreciation. Please accept it.”
- When Amanda saw the bank card, her eyes lit up, and she grabbed it right away. Then, she slapped her forehead, pulled out a receipt, and handed it to Trey. Oh, and this too. I’d appreciate it if you could reimburse me for it.”
- What’s this?” Trey asked in confusion.
- Amanda looked at him and replied, The cab fare I paid to get here. You need to reimburse it.”
- Seeing the wary look on Amanda’s face, as if afraid he might try to get out of paying. Trey couldn’t help but shake his head. The interest on the money in the card he’d given her could easily cover this.
