- Chapter 17
- Hearing Jarrell’s words, Amanda was furious. She worked so hard to help Jarre by tutoring her.
- Learning was a no–go for Amanda. It was never gonna happen, not in this lifetime.
- She huffed and stormed off, leaving the others utterly confused.
- Jarrett scratched his head, looking clueless. “Did I say something wrong?”
- mother, and now he even tried to repay her
- I thought I was helping her. If I told other classmates I was tutoring them, they’d be over the moon. Why’s Amanda so mad?‘ Jarrett wondered.
- Brice couldn’t help but wince. He’d been around enough students to guess what was going on. He mused, ‘Looks like that girl’s got a real dislike for school. Well, the more she pushes back, the more we’ve got to help her. Sure, grades aren’t everything, but they sure make life a whole lot easier.
- Brice clapped Jarrett on the back and said. “Son, you’ve gotta help Manda with her grades, okay!”
- Jarrett nodded seriously and promised, “I will, Dad”
- Just then. Derick came in for his rounds. As soon as he stepped in, he caught a whiff of the pleasant scent in the air. His eyes narrowed when he saw the herb remnants in the trash.
- “You can’t just use random herbs you get. What if something goes wrong?” Derick’s expression turned stern.
- Helen, looking nervous, gripped the medicine tightly in her hands.
- Jarrett stepped in front of Helen, his voice calm but firm. “Even if something goes wrong, you won’t take responsibility.”
- At this point, the hospital could do nothing about Helen’s situation, so they harbored the thought of “better than nothing
- Jarrett learned from Brice that Derick was Amanda’s brother. If he weren’t the best doctor in this hospital, they wouldn’t have
- come to him.
- Brice chimed in, “It’s not random herbs. This is a special treatment from a master healer.”
- Hearing that, Derick scoffed. He thought they were fooled. Since they didn’t listen to his advice, he gave a cold snort and turned to leave. “Do whatever you want. If it goes wrong, deal with it yourself.”
- The others didn’t even bother responding. It wasn’t like they were surprised. They started to understand why Amanda said Corkerys were all bad people.
- Now, Amanda even felt like Brice and Jarrett were also bad. She stomped her feet in frustration, complaining. “They’re crazy.”
- Seeing her throw a tantrum, the elf comforted her, “It’s okay. You’re working so hard, and you’ll definitely make it to the SAT.”
- Amanda rolled her eyes and retorted, “If you only had three years to live, would you go to school or have fun!”
- Hearing the question the clf went silent. Even a fool would pick to have fun.
- Amanda snorted, “You choose the same, right? I’m not an idiot. It’s such a waste not to enjoy the good life.”
- With that, Amanda made a snap decision. She bought a ticket to Silvermoor’s biggest amusement park, ready to have some
- fur
- It was summer vacation, usually the busiest time of the year for the park, but it was strangely empty today. It was perfect for Amanda since she didn’t have to wait in line.
- She walked straight in and hit all the rides–rollercoasters, the swinging pendulum, and the pirate ship one after the other. And then she made a beeline for the drop tower, letting herself plummet headfirst. The feeling of weightlessness made her
- SCICUL
- Just then, a voice rang out next to her ear, and a colorful face suddenly appeared in front of her. The person asked with a grin, Funny, huh? Want to try something even crazier?”
- 11/3
- Amanda smiled back. “Sure.” Before the man could even react, she grabbed his arm and swung him around like a ragdoll.
- Damion Brewer, caught off guard, spun wildly in the air. He kept screaming, and he felt like he was about to throw up. Amanda, quick as lightning, hurled him away, shouting, “Off you go.”
- Damion went flying straight into a tree, hanging upside down. It took him a while to process what happened, and when he finally did, his eyes widened in disbelief as he screamed, “HELP! There’s a GHOSTI”
- Amanda thought helplessly, ‘Maybe we should see who the real ghost is.
- After Amanda climbed up the tree, Damion cautiously shuffled over and asked, “Hey, can you see me?”
- Amanda gave him a look full of distaste and replied, “With that rainbow mess on your head, I’d have to be blind not to see
- you.
- That one line made Damion light up with pride. He even reached up to fluff his hair smugly and said, “Cool, huh? I found eight stylists to nail this look. One of a kind. What do you think? Really chic, right?”
- He even struck a dramatic pose and winked while speaking.
- Amanda said with a deadpan face, “Not at all.”
- Damion’s grin instantly froze. His face went blank as he scolded, “That was rude.”
- “Not as rude as you,” Amanda shot back. She then glanced up at the blazing sun and suggested, “Come on, cool this place down with some ghost energy. It’s scorching.”
- your personal A/C
- That was the first time someone asked Damion to do such a thing. He growled, “Excuse me? Do I look like yo unit? Do you even know who I am?”
- Before he could finish puffing himself up, Amanda pulled a stick of incense out of her bag. No clue what it was made of, but it smelled amazing.
- Damion gulped hard, his eyes locked on it. In a blink, his whole vibe did a 180, and groveling mode activated. “How’s the chill now? Comfy! Feeling the breeze, huh?”
- Amanda replied flatly, “Just alright.
- She strolled over and plopped down under a tree, crossing her legs like she didn’t have a care in the world.
- Anton wandered over and said, “Manda, I just poked around a bit. People say this place is haunted. That’s why no one’s coming. Do you think it’s because of this guy?”
- Before the words were even out of his mouth, two voices answered at the exact same time,
- Damion snapped, “Not me.
- Amanda said, “Not him.”
- Damion was startled to hear Amanda’s answer, and he turned to look at her and asked, “Wait, how do you know it’s not me? Is
- it because I’m good–looking? You figured a face like this had to be a friendly ghost, right?”
- Amanda yawned, her chin propped up on her palm. “Nah, it’s because you’re not strong enough to pull that off.”
- Damion muttered to himself. I’ve never met anyone ruler than her.
- He stood there, arms crossed, full of attitude, glaring at Amanda like she owed him something.
- Anton chuckled and thought, ‘She’s got a sharp tongue, that’s for sure.
- “So what’s the real deal?” Anton asked. “If it’s not this guy, and people are s are other ghosts!”
- Amanda shook her head and said, “Nope.”
- “Then what? Come on, don’t be mysterious”
- Just then, a man walked over, and beside him was a diviner.
- still cared off, what is going on? Do you mean there
- E
- ୦
- Paul Hunter looked like he was one step from crying. He dumped a fortune into this amusement park, hoping to strike gold, but from the day it opened, ghost rumors started flying. There were even photos. The whole thing felt real enough to scare people away. His investment was circling the drain.
- He turned to the diviner beside him, full of desperation. “Mr. Pearson, please. I’m begging you. You have to find the ghost.”
- Luis Pearson gave a curt nod, his face frosty and distant. “Mm.”
- Suddenly, Luis paused his steps, and his gaze snapped to Amanda. The next second, he flung a talisman straight at her.
- Damion was still glaring at Amanda when he suddenly felt a wave of murderous energy rush his way. He turned around and saw a blazing flash screaming straight at him. He screamed, “Ahhhhh!”
- Before he could finish, he saw Amanda flicking her wrist, and the talisman’s light vanished into thin air.
- Damion stared at Amanda, completely stunned. Then, without hesitation, he ducked behind her and clung to her like a lifeline. “Please save me. From now on, you’re my boss.”
