Chapter 8:
But from what she heard, on the first night Terrence and Margaret met, Terrence let Margaret live in his place. It was so obvious who he loved.
“Don’t want to live there anymore. That’s it,” Valerie replied nonchalantly.
Terrence didn’t ask further, and the space in the car fell into silence.
Half an hour later, they arrived at a Porsche 4S shop.
Valerie’s eyes lit up. A month ago, Porsche released the new Mission X. She had been nagging Terrence about it for days. But the Mission X was still rare; only three were available in the world.
Valerie became a little expectant. She got out of the car and followed Terrence into the shop. But as soon as she entered, her heart sank. She saw Margaret surrounded by staff in the middle.
Valerie immediately turned to leave, but Margaret spoke up, “Terry, Valerie, you’re here!”
“Terry, I want this one. Is it okay?” Margaret pointed to the Mission X.
Terrence, in a gentle tone, said, “Of course, as long as you like it.”
He then turned to Valerie, his gaze cold. “You can pick one too.”
Valerie, looking at Margaret’s smug expression, pointed to the same Mission X. “I want this one too.”
Terrence frowned. “Not this one. Pick another one.”
“I want this one,” Valerie said firmly.
Seeing Valerie act so willful, Margaret smiled slightly, watching Terrence’s reaction.
Terrence, annoyed, snapped, “Valerie, stop making a fuss! There are plenty of cars. Why can’t you pick another one?”
Valerie muttered, “Yeah. Why can’t I pick another one?”
Then, with a bright smile, she added, “Just kidding. How could I take what your precious one wants?” She pointed to another car. “I’ll take this one.”
