At that moment, Terrence had no interest in witnessing Ricky’s marriage.
However, he assumed that Valerie was still in Washington D.C. and wouldn’t cause any trouble.
Suppressing his annoyance, Terrence stepped out of the room.
He took a few steps, then turned around and said to Theodore, who was following him, “Call Valerie and tell her to come see me within an hour!”
Theodore remained silent, surprised by the request.
At City Hall
Valerie had been waiting for half an hour, yet she showed no sign of impatience.
Ricky glanced at her slender figure and murmured, “She does have a good temper.”
The driver in the front seat didn’t hear clearly and turned his head, asking, “Mr. Murray, what did you say?”
Ricky quickly looked away and replied, “Nothing.”
He took out his phone, and a message from his assistant popped up. It read that after the next intersection, the car picking up Terrence would arrive.
“Get out of the car,” Ricky instructed.
At his command, the driver and the bodyguard sitting in the front passenger seat got out of the car and carefully carried Ricky out.
The commotion was so noticeable that even Valerie, across the street, noticed it.
She frowned, thinking that Ricky wouldn’t show up after all.
The bodyguard pushed Ricky across the street, and after crossing the traffic lights, they finally arrived in front of Valerie.
“Let’s go in,” Valerie said, her tone light and cheerful. There was no trace of anger in her voice; if anything, she seemed relieved.
Ricky’s grip tightened on the armrest, and his eyes narrowed slightly. “Are you serious?”
Valerie raised an eyebrow, puzzled by his question.
“Do you really want to break up with Terrence?” Ricky asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
He had never witnessed firsthand how humbly Valerie had pursued Terrence. However, in the years before his legs were broken, Abbigail often spoke of her sister, calling her a “simp.”
At first, Ricky had doubted Abbigail’s claims, thinking they might be exaggerated. But the more he heard, the more he realized that some things were just too outrageous to be made up.
So, from the moment Valerie had said she wanted to marry him, Ricky never believed she would actually give up on Terrence.
