The assistant was speechless.
Valerie went to the National Academy of Sciences to meet Davion, her father’s former colleague and alumnus. He was also the head of the Antique Restoration Center.
Valerie had studied the restoration of cultural relics in college. But because Terrence had a cleanliness obsession, he didn’t like the smell of those restoration materials.
After graduation, she had rejected the offer from the Antique Restoration Center. She then moved into Foliage Villa to take care of Terrence, living a life that felt more like that of a maid.
After returning to Washington D.C., Valerie had been thinking about re-entering the industry. Today, she gathered up her courage and stepped into the Antique Restoration Center.
“Valerie, I’ve seen your final-year project. Although you were only responsible for restoring the artifact’s body, you did it perfectly, and it looked like it had never been touched,” Davion said with a smile. “I offered you the job after seeing your work back then.”
“But you didn’t come,” he continued, his face falling. “I was so upset. Now you’ve finally come!”
Davion’s expression brightened immediately. “Okay, you have to join us this time!”
Before Valerie could even respond, Davion eagerly offered her a position.
Valerie’s worries melted away as she looked at Davion, deeply grateful.
“Okay, once I finish my things, I’ll come over to start working.”
Once she and Ricky got married, she would be able to work again. From now on, she would live for herself.
“No problem! The door is always open for you,” Davion said, his joy evident as he hadn’t expected Valerie to agree so easily. “Then I’ll see you next time.”
Valerie waved goodbye to him.
Getting into the car, Valerie didn’t know where to go. She didn’t want to return to the hotel. As for her home… could it still be considered hers?
She drove aimlessly, eventually finding herself by the seaside.
Not far away, a newlywed couple was taking wedding photos. They must have been there all day. Both of them wore tired expressions, but their smiles remained bright and full of happiness.
