Chapter 27
At two o’clock in the early morning, Valerie woke from her bed, having had a nightmare.
In the dream, Terrence’s tall figure was curled in a ball, his cold gaze fixed on her with pain. “Valerie, stomach… ache…”
In the darkness, Valerie instinctively touched her stomach. It didn’t hurt, but she was a little hungry. And she had a sudden craving for tacos.
In her memory, there was a restaurant in Washington D.C. that served particularly delicious tacos. Valerie checked the restaurant’s location on the map and eagerly went downstairs. She no longer had to worry about her diet because of Terrence’s disdain for her weight.
However, as soon as she reached the downstairs, she saw Terrence walking toward her. Her heart raced. His well-defined fingers gripped his stomach, and his pale face barely masked the arrogance in his eyes.
He still looked the same as in her memories—the same look she hated.
Valerie walked past him without sparing a glance.
But as she passed, Terrence grabbed her wrist.
Her skin was fair, and with just a slight pressure, red marks appeared on the back of her hand.
Valerie frowned and snapped, “Let go!”
Terrence narrowed his eyes.
Valerie always spoke gently and softly, even when they argued. This kind of anger was unprecedented for Terrence.
“Valerie, you think you’re tough now, huh? You’ve blocked me for so long,” Terrence shot back, recovering from his initial shock. In the past, Valerie would unblock him within three days.
This time, it had been a full 108 hours and 57 minutes.
“Fine,” he said, his voice growing colder. “Give me your phone.”
Valerie looked up at Terrence, who seemed so confident. She gave him a faint smile. “Terrence, I blocked you this time and never intend to unblock you. Now, let me go. I have other things to do.”
Terrence stared at Valerie’s attempts to break free, annoyance flickering across his face. “Except for spinning around, because you know I’m in the hospital with a stomach illness, and…”
