Chapter 47: The Day Before the Wedding
Henry returned to the Reynolds family mansion. As the crown prince of the Reynolds family, his wedding had become the talk of New York, necessitating his attendance at gatherings with business and political elites. Sonya didn’t need to worry about the wedding arrangements; the Reynolds family had everything under control. However, their villa still required some decorations—“double happiness” symbols, floral arrangements, and red balloons.
The day before the wedding, Lily Lane and Ashley, Sonya’s best friends in New York, took time off from filming to help. Simon and Auntie Sterling arrived in the afternoon to assist with the decorations.
“Sonya, come see this giant ‘double happiness’ character! It’s eight feet tall!” Lily called.
Sonya was video-chatting with Henry.
“I’m coming down,” she replied.
“Okay,” Henry answered.
Henry was lounging in a recliner, the setting sun casting a warm glow on his face. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time to call her, both in the morning and at night. They didn’t need to talk for long—just being together was enough.
“Should I hang up?” Henry asked.
He smirked. “Miss me?”
“A little,” Sonya blushed.
“I miss you.”
“How much?”
“Whenever I close my eyes, I see your face. I want to kiss you, hold you tight, and…”
“Stop!” Sonya interrupted.
Henry chuckled. “I haven’t thought that much about it, but you have.”
Sonya scoffed; he was teasing her.
A knock came at Henry’s door.
“Sir, Chairman Ella of FutureGo is here. The Chairman wants you to greet him.”
Henry’s eyes flickered. “Is Chairman Jennings of Jennings Corporation still downstairs?”
“Yes, sir. He’s been waiting to see you.”
“Tell them to sit for a while.”
“Yes, sir.”
Henry turned back to Sonya, licking his lips. “Where were we?”
Sonya stared into his eyes, noticing a flicker of mischief.
“Oh, I think we were talking about how you want more.”
Sonya glared; Henry laughed.
“Alright, I need to deal with those two old foxes.”
Ending the call, Sonya went downstairs. Everyone was busy with the decorations, and she felt a pang of guilt for not being more involved.
Outside, she noticed a group of teenagers pointing and whispering in front of her villa. As soon as they saw her, they became agitated.
“It’s her! She lives across from Seraphina!”
“How shameless! Mr. Jennings is marrying Seraphina, and she’s still clinging to him!”
“She’s trying to break up their marriage, but he doesn’t want her!”
“She’s having her own wedding, deliberately causing trouble!”
So, they were Seraphina’s fans?
Sonya glanced across the street. Seraphina was watching from her doorway, her house decorated, and a crowd gathered there as well.
One excited fan rushed in, knocking over the eight-foot “double happiness” character before stomping on it. Others followed, trampling the character.
“What are you doing?! This is my house! Get out!” Sonya yelled.
Her voice was drowned out by insults—“slut” and “homewrecker”—while Seraphina stood by, doing nothing to stop it.
Sonya’s aunt came outside with a bucket of cleaning water and threw it at the fans. Auntie Sterling brandished a mop, and Simon held a kitchen knife.
The fans retreated, shouting insults.
Seraphina approached, trying to calm the situation.
“Everyone, calm down. It’s a misunderstanding.”
“Seraphina, she’s deliberately messing with you!” one fan cried.
Seraphina gently wiped the fan’s face before looking at Sonya. “You’re getting married tomorrow?”
Sonya took a deep breath. “Yes. So?”
“Of course, but I have a wedding invitation for you. You probably won’t be able to come, but it’s at your favorite place—SeaCloud Castle.”
Seraphina handed her an invitation.
Sonya accepted it. “I’ll be there tomorrow.”
“You’re getting married. How will you make it?”
Sonya gave Seraphina her own invitation. “It’s funny, I’m also getting married at SeaCloud Castle.”
Seraphina’s face hardened, but she quickly laughed.
“Sonya, are you crazy? Do you know who’s getting married at SeaCloud Castle tomorrow? Reynolds! Are you telling me you’re marrying the Reynolds crown prince?”
Her fans laughed, mocking Sonya.
“If I’m really getting married at SeaCloud Castle tomorrow, will you be embarrassed?” Sonya raised an eyebrow.
“If you’re getting married at SeaCloud Castle tomorrow, I’ll slap myself!” Seraphina sneered. “But what if you’re not?”
“I’ll offer my face. You can slap me as much as you want,” Sonya replied coolly.
Seraphina shook her head. “Sonya, why would you humiliate yourself like this?”
“Who’s humiliating whom will be seen soon enough.”
The next morning, the wedding procession of Julian Jennings arrived first. As he helped Seraphina out of the car, he saw Sonya in her wedding dress, handing out candy to the guests.
He realized Sonya was truly getting married.
Leo Jones and Jake Parker were also surprised. They had thought Sonya was joking.
“Julian, let’s go,” Leo urged.
But Julian Jennings stood frozen, watching Sonya, his heart aching.
Seraphina, noticing Julian’s reaction, angrily pulled away and headed for the car.
Luke called Henry, but Henry would be detained by guests for a while.
Lily Lane and Ashley ushered Sonya inside. She noticed a familiar gaze and saw Julian Jennings in his groom’s attire, frowning.
She gave him a cool glance and turned away.
Julian was pushed into the car, distraught.
“Julian Jennings, are you regretting this?” Seraphina angrily asked.
Julian sneered. “Of course not.”
“Sonya’s incredible, claiming she’s marrying the Reynolds crown prince. He’s more powerful than you! She’s crazy, and she’s about to be proven wrong!”
