Sworn Enemy English Novel Chapter 38

Chapter 38

She was almost at the villa entrance when she noticed the man entering the gate behind her. She quickened her pace, but he followed her all the way to her door.

“What do you want?” she demanded, turning to face him.

The streetlights were bright enough to illuminate his features clearly. Even in this situation, she found herself momentarily stunned.

This man was beautiful. Not just handsome—beautiful. His striking features exuded a casual yet arrogant elegance. What a waste for someone so stunning to be a stalker.

“This is my house,” she said sharply. “Since you helped me earlier, I won’t call the police. Just leave.”

She took a step back, but he closed the distance between them.

“You…”

Before she could finish, he smirked and, to her astonishment, pressed his finger against the electronic lock. The door beeped and unlocked.

Sonya was stunned.

Without hesitation, he wrapped an arm around her and guided her inside.

“I thought you were home, but you weren’t,” he said casually. “Mr. Givens told me you went to the bar, so I got the address from him and…”

He had beaten up Jenny Stone for her.

Sonya relaxed slightly. “Why didn’t you tell me who you were? I thought you were some gangster.”

Henry chuckled. “I was trying to figure out how to greet you. Should I have said, ‘I’m Henry, your fiancé, nice to meet you’? That would’ve sounded strange, right?”

She laughed. It definitely would have.

Inside, he kept his arm around her. She tried to subtly move away, but he pushed her gently against the door.

“You—”

Before she could finish, he kissed her.

It was intense, passionate, as if he had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Sonya stiffened. Although their relationship was unconventional, this was their first meeting.

She tried to push him away, but he held her tightly.

“Henry…” she whispered, shaking her head.

He cupped her face, his breath uneven. “Do you know how much I’ve wanted this?”

“What?”

“I’ve been dreaming of this.”

“But we just met. How did you know you… wanted me?”

“Instinct.”

“Huh?”

“From the moment I saw you, I knew.”

“It’s too fast…”

He kissed her again, this time even more urgently. Before she knew it, he had lifted her into his arms, carrying her upstairs to the master bedroom.

By the time she landed on the bed, he was already on top of her.

What happened next unfolded naturally. Sonya had been hesitant at first, but his passion swept her away.

It was clear he had been longing for this moment.

He finally stopped only when she was too exhausted to move, then carried her to the shower.

Sonya woke up to the bright morning sunlight filtering through the windows.

Henry was already awake.

She tried to sit up, only to feel a deep ache throughout her body. Glancing down, she realized she was naked, her skin covered in faint marks. Her face flushed.

On the nightstand, Henry had neatly placed her pajamas and underwear. After getting dressed, she headed to the bathroom.

Downstairs, she heard his voice on a speakerphone.

“Nathan, you know we’re serious. We wouldn’t have cooperated through so many revisions of the acquisition proposal if we weren’t.”

Sonya followed the voice to the dining area and was met with an unexpected sight—Henry cooking breakfast.

He was wearing loose jeans but no shirt, his broad shoulders and sculpted physique on full display.

The Henry Sullivan she had imagined—suit-clad, refined, and untouchable—was completely different from the man before her now.

The person on the phone sounded frustrated.

“Mr. Sullivan, you say you’re serious, yet you return home at a critical moment, halting negotiations. That doesn’t show sincerity!”

“I’m getting married,” Henry replied simply.

“Marriage is more important than a multi-billion-dollar acquisition?”

“Of course.”

“Mr. Sullivan, we’re running out of time.”

“If you can wait, we’ll continue after my wedding.”

“We can’t wait!”

“Then I apologize. Hopefully, we’ll have another opportunity in the future.”

“That’s a blatant breach of contract!”

“Nathan, watch your tone.”

The other man took a deep breath. “What if we accept your last proposal?”

“Excellent,” Henry said smoothly. “You can sign at our Seattle office. My secretary is waiting.”

A long silence followed before Nathan begrudgingly said, “Fine. Congratulations to you and your wife.”

Henry smirked. “Thank you.”

He ended the call, turned off the stove, and set a bowl of noodles on the table. Only then did he notice Sonya standing there, watching him.

He smiled, walked over, and hugged her.

“Awake?”

“Yes, you…”

She still felt a little awkward, but he leaned down and kissed her naturally. It started as a simple morning kiss but quickly deepened.

“Stop!” Sonya pushed him away, breathing heavily. “I’m hungry!”

He grinned, making her blush even more.

“I made you noodles.”

He pulled out a chair for her and placed the steaming bowl of seafood noodles in front of her.

“The seafood is from my grandmother,” Henry said, sitting across from her. “She prepared it, and I soaked it last night. Perfect for noodles this morning.”

Sonya looked at the bowl—generous portions of shrimp, fish, and scallops, all giving off a mouthwatering aroma.

“You made this?” she asked in surprise.

Henry handed her chopsticks. “Try it.”

She took a bite. The flavors were rich and fresh, the noodles perfectly chewy, the shrimp crisp.

“Delicious!” she exclaimed, giving him a thumbs-up.

Henry raised an eyebrow. “I used to be a chef.”

“Really?”

“Yes,” he said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “My mother always said, the more skills you have, the better. The more you learn, the more opportunities you get.”

Sonya was intrigued. “What else have you done?”

“Many things,” he said casually. Then, with a teasing smile, he added, “Like being a… gigolo.”

Sonya gasped, staring at him in shock.

Henry burst out laughing. “Relax. I sold my talents, not my body.”
