A staff member approached. “Ms. Ella, Mr. Jennings and Ms. West would like to speak with you.”
Sonya raised an eyebrow. “About what?”
“They want you to give up the venue.”
Sonya glanced at Michael Bill. He took a deep breath before saying, “Mr. Sullivan bought the estate.”
Sonya’s eyes widened. Henry bought the entire estate? Just because she liked it? She could hardly believe it. She turned to Mr. Givens.
He smiled. “Don’t feel burdened, Ms. Ella. Mr. Sullivan enjoys investing in real estate. He owns multiple properties. He bought this one because you liked it, and it’s a solid investment.”
Sonya let out a sigh. She really needed to learn more about Henry.
“Ms. Ella?” the staff member prompted.
Sonya turned to Julian and Seraphina. “Tell them no.”
On the way back, she searched for “Henry” online. Anyone who could purchase an entire estate had to be influential. Yet, there was nothing—no articles, no social media, nothing at all.
“Ms. Ella,” Mr. Givens called.
“Yes?”
“Shall I take you straight back to the villa?”
“Yes.”
Sonya stared at her phone, then smiled. If she was curious, she could just ask Henry. His background didn’t matter.
She closed the search page just as a message popped up from Jake Parker. Lily Lane was at his bar. She seemed upset and had been drinking. He asked Sonya to check on her.
“Mr. Givens, take me to Jake Parker’s bar.”
At the bar, Sonya dismissed Mr. Givens. But Lily was already gone. The bartender told her she had just left.
Sonya quickly called Lily.
“You’re on the subway? Are you okay? Did you drink too much?”
After confirming Lily was fine, Sonya told her to rest and call if she needed anything.
After greeting Jake, Sonya left the bar. There were no taxis nearby, so she had to walk through some dimly lit alleys to reach a busier area.
That’s when she heard footsteps behind her.
She quickened her pace. The sound followed.
A glance back—someone was there.
Then she started running.
