I left the bedroom and headed for the entrance.“Leaving so soon?” Gary rushed from the living room, surprised. “The CEO was reading. I didn’t want to disturb him, Gary,” I said hastily, trying to smile, but it looked worse than crying.
Gary didn’t stop me, just saying to come by again. I left quickly. Gary sighed. When Evan came out for dinner, Gary, ladling soup, mumbled, “Her eyes were red when she left. Probably crying at home.”

“No sir.” Gary placed the soup beside him. “I just don’t understand. You saved her, and you still made her cry and run away?”
