Chapter 49
The bodyguards were no match for Suzanne.
Henry was beyond furious but dared not move a step forward. He was afraid that Suzanne’s fists would land on him.
Suzanne locked one of the bodyguards, sending him crashing to the ground. He clutched his leg in pain and howled. The bodyguard dared not even express his anger at Henry.
Seriously, how could anyone handle a fighter like Suzanne? Henry should try it himself.
The others hesitated to approach Suzanne as fear crept into their minds. The spot where they had been kicked still throbbed painfully.
Henry’s expression darkened.
He had to make sure Suzanne stayed no matter what. He knew that if she left today, getting her back would be impossible.
Grinding his teeth, he barked, “Hold her down! I’ll double your pay!!”
Though Suzanne had lost all hope in him, his words still made her shiver. She turned to face Henry. He was willing to go to any lengths to achieve his goal.
Suzanne clenched her fists tightly. With the voice of a vengeful spirit from hell, she said, “Let’s see how that turns out!”
At the mention of double pay, the bodyguards’ eyes lit up, and their fear quickly gave way to greed. Without hesitation, they rushed toward Suzanne. Their attacks were more violent than before.
Punches and kicks rained down on her. Though Suzanne was fast and agile, she couldn’t avoid the simultaneous attacks from six bodyguards and ended up taking several blows. But the more pain she felt, the colder and more determined her eyes became.
The cold presence she exuded made everyone feel a chill deep in their bones. She would never forget that the pain she was experiencing now came from her own father.
With a swift movement, Suzanne spun around and let out a furious roar. Her speed was so fast that she left only afterimages in her wake.
In the blink of an eye, all the bodyguards were on the ground, wailing in agony.
Henry, Mandy, and Seline froze at once. How could Suzanne be so strong? Six highly trained men, paid handsomely to train, yet they were completely useless against her.
Defeat was inevitable. These were men Henry had trusted to overpower anyone, yet they couldn’t even defeat Suzanne.
Suzanne’s presence was almost suffocating. Her cold gaze fixed on Henry as she said in a chilling tone, “From now on, we’re no longer father and daughter. Your life or death has nothing to do with me.”
Everything would end today.
Henry swallowed hard. Suzanne’s gaze sent a shiver down his spine. It was unfamiliar, fierce, and intimidating. Instinctively, he took two steps back.
Mandy held back her panic and took a deep breath. She couldn’t let Suzanne leave. If she did, the marriage to the Lloyd family would fall apart.
She knew Henry was ruthless. Without Suzanne, he might have Seline marry Todd. She couldn’t allow that to happen.
Swallowing her fear, Mandy stepped forward to reason with Suzanne. “Suzanne, you’ve misunderstood. Todd is not the person you think he is. His enemies spread rumors to ruin his reputation. Once you meet him, you’ll understand. And your dad… He’s your real father. He would never harm you. You just need to—”
Suzanne’s sharp gaze suddenly turned toward Mandy, making her find herself unable to speak. The words were stuck in her throat.
After one last, icy glance at all three of them, Suzanne turned and walked away without a second thought. Her departure left the entire room in a strange, oppressive silence.
Seline couldn’t shake off the urgency in her heart as she recalled everything that had just happened. If Suzanne didn’t marry Todd, Jenson would never forget her. She had to think of something.
