Chapter 98 – Skincare Brand Named ‘Caroz’
“I’m finished, and so are you and the Brooks family. You’ve ruined me!” Caroline shot back. “No one is going to come out of this unscathed. This will be a disaster for alal of us!”
Elizabeth’s face shifted between several shades of red and white. “You… you really plan to keep the baby?”
“I’ll keep it if I want to,” Caroline retorted firmly. “Why does it matter to you?”
After all, she was still hiding her pregnancy, and Elizabeth wouldn’t dare expose it.
They were all trapped in this web of secrets, none of them willing to reveal the truth to David.
Elizabeth gritted her teeth. “I advise you to get rid of it. This child will be nothing but trouble—a ticking time bomb. One day, it’ll blow up, and you’ll regret it.”
Caroline’s resolve only strengthened. “I warn you, Elizabeth, if you dare lay a hand on me or my baby, I’ll fight you with everything I have!”
“You… you’re insane!” Elizabeth hissed.
“Who’s afraid of who?” Caroline raised an eyebrow, her voice steady. “Never underestimate a mother’s strength!”
Caroline knew her instincts were right. She would do anything to protect her child.
Elizabeth muttered something about Caroline being crazy under her breath before hurriedly fleeing the room.
Caroline, though unsure who the father was, was determined to keep the baby. Maybe she was being reckless, but she couldn’t afford to wait. There was too much at stake.
She needed to talk to her parents—she needed advice, a strategy. As things stood, if the Brooks family continued down this path, they would all go down together.
Caroline gazed down at her still-flat belly. She didn’t care if the world was against her. She would do whatever it took to protect her children.
She wanted her babies to experience everything the world had to offer—hear the birds singing, feel the sun on their skin, grow day by day, and live independent and free. In truth, the identity of the father didn’t matter.
So what if it was Nash? Caroline thought with a grim smile. She would simply think of it as borrowing his sperm to have two adorable babies.
As she walked up to the second floor, she passed by the study, where the door was slightly ajar. David was on the phone.
“I trust you to make the decisions on this. You’re in charge of the Caroz brand. Whether it becomes an industry leader like the other Ellison Group brands depends on your abilities.”
“I have high expectations,” David continued. “Also, send me the final packaging design for ‘Caroz’ to my email when it’s ready, I’ll take a look.”
The more Caroline overheard, the more confused she became.
What is “Caroz”? she thought. Does the Ellison Group even have a brand like that? This is the first time I’ve heard of it.
Wait a minute…
Caroline’s eyes widened as she had a sudden realization. Without thinking, she pushed the door to the study open. “You’re calling the skincare brand ‘Caroz’?”
David looked up slowly from his phone.
Seeing her intrusion, Caroline quickly raised her hand to cover her mouth, but the words had already slipped out.
David didn’t seem bothered. He casually tossed his phone onto the desk. “Yes.”
Caroline blinked, now realizing he had answered her question without hesitation.
“Caroz?” she repeated in disbelief.
She hadn’t expected David to actually adopt Boris’s suggestion. What in the world?
“Do you have a problem with it?” David asked, his voice calm but firm. “No objections will be accepted.”
Caroline hesitated, then replied, “No, it’s just… Boris was joking, but why are you taking him seriously?”
“It’s a high-level decision. Does it concern you?” David responded, his tone sharp.
Caroline bit her lip and fell silent, realizing she wasn’t in a position to argue. Right. I’m just a small fry. Forget it.
With a resigned sigh, Caroline turned and walked back to the master bedroom. She completed her nightly routine, sitting at the vanity and using the “Caroz” lotion and toner she had developed herself.
As the cool cream absorbed into her skin, Caroline’s thoughts swirled. She didn’t care about the brand’s name, nor did she care about the high-level decisions happening around her. What mattered now was her baby—and she would do whatever it took to protect her child, no matter the cost.
