Chapter 91 – A Name from Two People
Watching David’s retreating figure, Caroline let out a dismissive “Tch.”
He’s being ridiculous again. Just ignore it.
She didn’t give his attitude much thought; it wasn’t the first time he’d acted this way, after all.
When she arrived at the office, Caroline noticed a package sitting on her desk.
Just as she was about to open it, Anna approached, her heels clicking on the floor. “Caroline, Mr. Boris wants to see you in his office.”
“Oh, got it.” Caroline nodded. Conveniently, she had something to report to Boris as well.
She set the package aside and headed for the vice president’s office. After knocking and entering, she was surprised to find…
David was there, lounging on the couch, his legs crossed with an air of casual authority.
He looked every bit the perfect gentleman, but Caroline knew better. In reality, he’s a devil in disguise.
“Mr. Boris, you called for me?” she asked, her voice polite.
“Yes,” Boris said, gesturing to the chair. “Take a seat.”
David raised an eyebrow, closing the folder in his hands. “When did a regular employee earn the right to sit at my level?” he quipped, his tone dripping with condescension.
“There are only three of us here. Are you really pulling rank?” Caroline shot back, unable to hide the edge in her voice.
“Work is work,” David responded coolly. “It should be handled professionally.”
Boris, ever the instigator, teased, “Be careful, David. You might find yourself begging for mercy later tonight.”
David, ever the quick one, shot out a kick. Boris dodged it effortlessly.
“Mr. Boris, I’m fine standing,” Caroline said, her smile polite but tight. “I won’t stay long anyway. I wouldn’t want to offend Mr. Ellison and ruin both our moods.”
Boris observed their back-and-forth with a knowing smirk. These two… truly a love–hate relationship.
“Alright, let’s get down to business,” Boris said, clearing his throat. “I hear your formula is almost ready. Is that true?”
“Yes, if nothing unexpected happens, I should be able to finalize it today,” Caroline answered. She couldn’t help but feel a little irritated at the department head who had interrupted her the previous day. She would’ve finished it last night if not for that.
Boris raised his eyebrows in surprise. “That quickly? What about the cost?”
“Mr. Boris, I substituted aloe vera for the original ingredients,” Caroline explained. “That lowered the cost even more than we expected. Aloe vera is an all-natural product, with no chemical additives, and it can benefit more than just aging or redness-prone skin. We could also expand into the baby care market—products designed for moms and babies to use together. It could even double as a body lotion.”
She shared her ideas with enthusiasm, watching as Boris nodded, clearly impressed.
“Bringing you back on board was one of my best decisions. Otherwise, I would’ve missed out on an exceptional formulator like you.”
Caroline smiled, feeling a rush of pride. “I’m grateful for your recognition, Mr. Boris.”
It felt good to be appreciated—much better than certain people who thought they were above everyone else.
Boris turned his attention to the next topic. “Since the formula is ready, it’s time for the marketing and production teams to start preparing.” He glanced at David, his tone more serious. “Mr. Ellison, our skincare brand still doesn’t have a name. Would you like to pick one?”
David tapped his fingers rhythmically on the folder, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet room as he pretended to consider the question.
Then, Boris snapped his fingers, a gleam of excitement in his eyes. “I’ve got it!”
David raised an eyebrow. “Let’s hear it.”
Boris leaned forward, a playful smile spreading across his face. “Take a word from your name, and a word from Caroline’s name. Combine them, and you’ve got your brand name. Once your relationship becomes public, and everyone finds out about your marriage, they’ll have an epiphany!”
David and Caroline turned to each other, their gazes perfectly synchronized as they processed what Boris had just said.
The silence stretched between them, thick with disbelief.
Are you out of your mind?
