Chapter 75 – I Am Going to Hit You!
Caroline remained silent.
Boris grinned. “What happened? Did your plan fail? Or did David already set up a trap for you?”
“Mr. Boris…”
Boris ignored her protest. “With his personality, it’s a miracle he even got a wife. You should try to be more patient.”
Caroline bit her tongue.
She had wanted to thank Boris for not holding her past mistakes against her, but his imagination was getting out of hand.
Boris leaned lazily against the desk. “I even covered for you in the morning meeting. Looks like I didn’t have to. You’ll be coming to work as usual from now on, right?”
“Yes, Mr. Boris.”
“Good.” He nodded. “This time, I actually have a project for you.”
Caroline immediately straightened. “I’m listening.”
“The marketing team found that the market lacks a good toner and lotion for sensitive skin. I want you to develop a product that works instantly—calming redness and soothing irritation in just one use. It also needs to be affordable, so students and office workers can buy it easily.”
Caroline nodded. “I see. So, you need a highly effective yet cost-efficient skincare product.”
Boris snapped his fingers. “Exactly. Think you can do it?”
“I can give it a try.”
“Great. You have full access to the lab, and if you need anything, let me know. How long do you need?”
Caroline thought for a moment. “At least two weeks.”
Boris looked satisfied. “Good. I’m looking forward to your results.”
Caroline immediately threw herself into the project, spending hours testing formulas in the lab.
By the time she was done, it was already ten at night.
She managed to catch the last bus home, feeling exhausted yet fulfilled.
The bus stop was still a ten-minute walk from the Ellison estate.
As she walked along the quiet road, lost in thought, a flashy red sports car suddenly pulled up beside her.
Beep beep beep!
Elizabeth smirked at her from the driver’s seat. “Still alive, huh? You must have nine lives.”
Caroline’s anger flared instantly.
Without thinking, she twisted open her water bottle and splashed it straight at Elizabeth.
Splash!
Elizabeth shrieked. “You did NOT just do that!”
Caroline stepped closer. “Oh, I did. And I’m not done yet—I’m going to hit you too!”
She yanked open the car door and grabbed Elizabeth by the hair. “Kidnapping me? Trying to ruin my reputation? Let’s see how YOU like it!”
