- Chapter 29
- [Evelyn’s POV]
- It truly took me a solid moment to realize what Alexander had just asked of me. Did he truly want me to see his soldiers? Did he
- mean it?
- Under normal, much less arranged circumstances, usually Alphas and their Lunas were allowed to attend the military review. It was a chance for Alpha’s to address their packs, specifically their soldiers and acknowledge both strengths and weak points.
- It was also a vital time to discuss upcoming events as well as future plans. It was a crucial time to show support where it was
- needed and address any sort of concerns.
- It was, in all sense of the word, ‘normal‘ and very common for Alphas to include their Luna in on such affairs. However, the
- relationship between Alexander and myself was really anything but normal.
- It was, primarily, the reason why I was so stunned.
- This was a huge feat. Alexander trusted me enough to where he felt comfortable having me involved in this part of his life. This was huge.
- This entire concept went so much further beyond mere trust. It meant that he was willing to acknowledge me as his Luna.
- I blinked back the emotion in my eyes and nodded my head.
- Alexander graced me with a pleased smile. “Good. Let’s head out.”
- I wasn’t going to lie…I was nervous.
- It was one thing to talk to a handful of guards, but it was a completely other scenario when I was surrounded by several hundreds
- of soldiers. Armed.
- But for what it was all worth, it was easy to say that everyone was just as curious about me as I was about them. From the moment Alexander and I entered the large open field area, I felt countless eyes drift over me.
- “Who’s that?” one of them asked.
- “I’m not sure.”
- com said they s
- “One of the guards closer to base her walking with one of the doctors.”
- Ugh, just the thought of Fiona sent my blood ablaze. I still had a hard time comprehending the danger she was trying to put me in.
- I never thought myself to be vindictive or vengeful. With a Step Sister like Samantha, I had learned from a very early age to let a lot of my inner anger go. However, with Fiona, it felt different. Samantha’s comments never held much weight. I knew that they were backed with childish immaturity.

- Fiona was looking to get me thrown out of the pack–hell, possibly to have me killed.

- Her jealousy seemed to run much deeper than anyone gave her credit for. It all made me wonder…Was Alexander aware of how dangerous she was?
- Maybe Alexander has a reason for his actions….
- In any case, I was relieved that our paths weren’t going to cross anytime soon. It would give me a chance to really focus on my responsibilities as Luna without the worry of possible interference.
- Yes, for the time being, I chose to drop the thought. Especially because there were so many other important things happening
- around me. The several hundreds of soldiers openly stared at me with questionable looks.
- I couldn’t stop my cheeks from flushing under the weight of their gazes. Regardless of my title, I simply wasn’t used to this kind
- of attention–even if it was something minor as mere acknowledgement.
- Alexander had guided us over to a slightly raised platform where he was able to properly address the crowd. As soon as he cleared
- his throat, the whole area grew silent.
- Several dozens of chills raced down my spine at the sight of everyone’s obedience and willingness to listen to Alexander even in
- his current state. It was clear to see that all those rumors about how he gained so much allegiance and respect from others were,
- in fact, true.
- “Everyone, before I read through the evaluation, there’s something rather important that must be announced,” he said clearly.
- The silence was almost deafening. Many of the soldiers kept glancing in my direction. My heart thundered frantically in my chest.
- “I know this may come as a bit of a shock… To be honest, I was genuinely surprised by the development myself at the time. Without any further delay, I would like to introduce you all to Evelyn. My Luna.”
- There was no chance of ignoring the countless gasps and hushed whispers that broke out among the crowd.
- I offered a smile and lowered my head in deep respect.
- “You may say something if you wish,” Alexander whispered to me.
- “As Alexander previously mentioned, I know this is all a bit shocking. Sudden, to say the least. In the time that I have known Alpha Alexander, he’s proven himself to be meticulous. And at times, exceedingly intimidating.
- A few light–hearted chuckles were thrown around amongst the crowd.
- “But I believe that the reason for this is because he wanted to ensure that he had picked a suitable Luna,” I stated.
- I knew there was more to Alexander’s reasoning and trials when it came to me; however, that was a conversation best suited for
- another time.
- “I originally come from a considerably small pack. But regardless of the numbers, I always made it a point to ensure that their well–being and security came first. Rumors were all I had when it came to knowing anything about this pack. All I can say is that

- by the sheer magnitude of it and the clear, undoubtable skill that you all possess–I’m nothing short of impressed. It would be a great honor to serve and look after you
- all.”
- The crowd in front of us erupted in the same thunderous applause as when Alexander first entered. I couldn’t stop the smile that Mtook over my face along with the several hundreds of chills that raced over my body.
- “Well done,” Alexander said with a smug smile.
- From that point onward, he’d gone through the evaluation while giving honorable mentions when necessary. After going over th new training schedules, Alexander closed out the meeting with a mere nod of his head.
- Throughout it all, not a single person’s attention strayed or stepped out of line. It really made me feel true admiration for the Alpha beside me.
- While heading back to the main camp, we were joined by Oliver who gave an apriasing smile to us both.
- “I think they took the news of your new Luna rather well, sir.”
- “Indeed they did,” he hummed. Alexander’s grin was relaxed as he spoke. He turned his head to glance up at me. “Evelyn, how do you feel about helping me plan out a ceremony to honor our mothers? Perhaps a private memorial at the graveyard as a way to pay tribute to our mothers?”
- An astonished expression took over my face. “R–Really? Yes. Yes, I would love to help you plan such a ceremony.”
- My heart swelled in my chest, I couldn’t help but smile with excitement.
- “Good. How about we set the date for the end of next week?” he suggested.
- So soon? Suddenly, part of my excitement was quickly replaced with anxiety. I’d never planned such an important occasion. Considering its severity, I needed to ensure that I was going to make sure everything was perfect.
- “Sir, remember, the Luna gathering happens to be next week as well,” Oliver addressed.
- Oh God. To think my nerves couldn’t get any more disheveled…
