Wife’s Return English Novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30: Aren’t You Afraid Of Getting Dirty?

Nathan stood unmoved, his eyes fixed on Olivia as he registered the faint smell of alcohol in her breath. She had clearly drunk wine, and he knew she had a low tolerance for it. Her cheeks were flushed, just as they had been in the past, but today she looked different—irritable, not the demure girl he once knew. The shift in her demeanor was undeniable.

The woman standing before him wasn’t the same as before. This realization hit him harder than he cared to admit. She had changed.

Nathan clenched his fist unconsciously, his voice becoming dangerously low. “Do you not have an obligation to tell me, or do you refuse to admit it? Denying it won’t change anything. Everything will be clear after the second DNA test.”

Olivia felt her anger rise, her patience thinning. With a sudden movement, she freed herself from his grip, her chin no longer held by his hand. “Nathan, what’s the point of all this?” she demanded. “Even if Liam is your child, do you really want to acknowledge him? Whether I agree or not, have you even asked your mother? What about her opinion?”

Her icy expression remained unchanged as she continued, her voice filled with scorn. “Don’t forget that you’re about to be engaged. You’ll have your own family soon enough. I sincerely hope you’ll stop disturbing us.” She pointed toward the door, her words cold and final. “I’ve said everything I wanted to say. Please leave.”

Nathan’s anger flared at her dismissal. How dare she push him away like this? His temper boiled over, and without a moment’s hesitation, he grabbed her chin again, his grip tightening. “Olivia, whether it makes sense or not, I have the final say!” His voice was low and possessive. “My blood is flowing through Liam’s veins. Of course, I must acknowledge him as my son. No one will stop me, not even you.”

The words cut through Olivia, her fury growing with each passing second. She opened her mouth to respond, but before she could speak, Nathan leaned in suddenly and kissed her—his lips biting down on hers fiercely.

The shock of the kiss caught Olivia off guard. His lips were forceful, as though he was punishing her with every second of contact. She froze for a moment, unable to process what was happening. But when her body finally reacted, she struggled fiercely, trying to push him away. Nathan’s hand shot up, securing the back of her head, preventing her from escaping.

As their faces remained locked in that intense moment, Olivia’s mind flashed back to that night five years ago. The memory hit her like a hammer. That night, Nathan had been drugged, and his touch had been rough and unrelenting. He had taken her with no care, and afterward, cast her aside, making her feel as though she had somehow defiled him.

What is he doing now? The thought made her blood boil. The man who had once treated her as if she were dirt now acted as though he had the right to do whatever he wanted.

In a burst of strength, Olivia bit down on his lips. The taste of blood spread between them, but Nathan didn’t flinch. Instead, he licked his lips, savoring the taste of blood as if he found it gratifying.

“You’re so inexperienced,” Nathan remarked, his voice dripping with mockery. “I don’t think you even know how to kiss, let alone carry someone’s child. Olivia, don’t try to deceive me.”

Olivia’s chest tightened. He had kissed her just for this—to taunt her. Her anger surged, and despite the fury, she managed a cold laugh, her voice laced with sarcasm. “Aren’t you afraid of getting dirty?”

Her words were sharp and biting, aimed to strike back at him. “It’s been five years. Are you still as fastidious as ever?”

Nathan heard the sarcasm in her voice, but he didn’t respond immediately. His gaze darkened, his expression unreadable. He wasn’t going to be swayed by her insults.

After a long pause, he spoke again, this time more calmly. “Let me take care of Liam. I’ll watch over him and make sure he doesn’t get hurt this time.”

Olivia’s heart clenched, but she forced herself to remain composed. She closed her eyes for a moment, steadying her breathing. When she opened them again, her expression was cold and resolute. She had made a decision.

“There’s no need,” she said, her voice icy. “I don’t trust you. It’s true that Liam is your child, but I won’t allow him to return to the Carter family, nor will I let him reunite with you. People like us, who are considered criminals, can’t afford to be associated with the Carter family. Even if we were to return, we wouldn’t be treated kindly. Who knows? We might even be expelled one day.”

Her words were deliberate, filled with finality. She didn’t want Nathan’s interference in her life or Liam’s. She didn’t want to be dragged back into the chaos that was the Carter family.

“Therefore,” Olivia continued, turning her back to him, “please refrain from disturbing us any further.” With that, she walked toward the door, her movements sharp and decisive, her back to him as she left the study without another word.
