After transmigrating into a romance novel as an NPC, the System tasked me with capturing
the second male lead.
He demanded I fetch him tea and water, and I even massaged his shoulders and legs.
One night, he craved steamed buns from ten kilometers away, and I went to buy them for
him overnight.

front of me.

help, he was staring intently at Karen Lynn, completely oblivious.
Today was supposed to be a class reunion, and Karen Lynn was the campus queen back then. Everyone was egging her on to give him a kiss.
Tears welled in Karen Lynn’s eyes as she forced a smile, her gaze fixed on us from the corner
of her eye.
A man who’d failed to win her over back then put his arm around her shoulder.
“If Charlie Lewis doesn’t want to, it’s okay. I’m here for you.”
The man grinned lewdly, moving closer and closer to her.
“Just for a second, come on, come on.”
Charlie Lewis lowered his head and popped the grapes I had just peeled into his mouth.

He smiled gently, as always, even breaking off a grape to feed me.

Karen Lynn fought back tears, and just as the grape was about to reach her mouth, she
abruptly pushed him away.

With that, Karen Lynn strode over, pulled me aside, and kissed Charlie Lewis full on the mouth.
Silence fell over the entire room.
Charlie Lewis didn’t resist. The moment Karen Lynn pulled away, he pulled her back into his
arms, deepening the kiss.
The grapes slipped from my hand and tumbled to the ground, coated in dust.
Instantly, the entire audience erupted, cheering and whipping out their phones to record.
I bent to retrieve the grapes, but watched as they were crushed underfoot, turning into a
disgusting mess.

The System beside me was shouting in anger.
“Second male lead, do you even remember you have a girlfriend?!”
Unfortunately, I was the only one who could hear it.
The alarm in my head continued its shrill repetition.

They kissed for a long time, breathless, hands still resting on each other’s shoulders, eyes
locked.
The next second, Charlie Lewis swept Karen Lynn into his arms in front of everyone and
walked out.
The System asked me, crestfallen.
“Third capture attempt failed. Do you want to continue?”
My heart was as cold as ashes, and I shook my head repeatedly.
“No, I want to go home.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Charlie Lewis pause for a moment, but he ultimately walked away without a backward glance.
He abandoned me in front of everyone.
