- Chapter 673
- Grabbing a blanket from his bed, she laid it out on the floor. Summoning all her strength, she rolled him onto the makeshift bed, then fetched a pillow for him to rest more comfortably.
- Smack!
- “That’s for being annoying!” Ellie lightly slapped his handsome face before leaving.
- The next morning, Barry came by to pick up his boss. Entering the room, he froze at the sight of Alex sprawled on the floor. Wrapped in a floral quilt, lying on a big blanket, Alex was out cold.
- “Mr. Warren?” Barry called out a few times, but Alex didn’t budge. Panicking, Barry ran next door to get Ellie. He caught her just as she was waiting for the elevator.
- “Dr. Thompson, please come check on Mr. Warren! He won’t wake up!” Barry pleaded.
- “He’s fine. Just slap him hard a couple of times, and he’ll wake up,” Ellie replied, stepping into the elevator.
- Confused, Barry returned to the
- om. Looking at the unconscious Alex, he hesitated.
- He couldn’t help but wonder if Alex had annoyed Ellie and been taken down by her acupuncture needle again.
- After hesitating for a long time, Barry didn’t dare to make a move.

- Alex finally woke up close to noon.
- “Mr. Warren, Ms. Parker and her team from Tagria will arrive at the airport this afternoon to discuss the company’s outsourcing project,” Barry informed him, relieved to see him awake.
- “Have Chris and the business team pick them up. Book rooms for them at Earl Hotel, and reserve a table for dinner at 8 PM. I’ll be there,” Alex instructed, heading for the bathroom.

- That night, close to 11 PM.
- After parting ways with Lacey, Ellie stopped by the supermarket for some essentials. On her way home, she realized she was being followed.
- Afraid to head into the underground parking lot, she stuck to the bustling sidewalk, heading toward Earl Hotel.
- Using her phone’s reflection, she spotted several suspicious men trailing her from the supermarket. When they suddenly sped up, Ellie broke into a sprint!
- “The Earl hotel where Layton and Nalani were is just ahead. If I could get inside, I’d be safe!‘ she thought to herself. Turning toward the entrance, two men blocked her path. Trapped, Ellie darted into the street like a headless chicken.
- A series of screeching brakes echoed as she dashed across the road. Desperate, she spotted a black luxury car just starting to pull away. Without hesitation, she yanked the back door open and climbed in.
- “Sorry, but I need help!” she blurted, apologizing as she shut the door.
- Startled, the driver slammed on the brakes.
- Barry, sitting in the front seat, turned around and froze in shock.
- “Oh no!” Ellie gasped, seeing the men outside the car. They were closing in fast. Worse, part of her shopping bag was stuck outside the car door. They’d know she was inside the moment they saw it.
- Dressed in a sharp black suit, Alex lazily leaned back in his seat, slowly opening his eyes.
- Seeing the woman crouched against the window, he arched a brow. “Dr. Thompson?”
- Hearing his voice, Ellie spun around, finally noticing Alex sitting next to her.
- “I’m being followed. Just let me hide here for a bit,” she whispered urgently.
- Alex leaned in closer, his body hovering over her small frame.
- Through the window, he glanced at the suspicious men outside. A fleeting coldness flashed in his eyes.
- Then, lowering his head to her ear, he whispered, “Aren’t we a little too unfamiliar for you to just hop into my car like this?”
