Chapter 369
“A grown man, single and alone, and instead of working on himself to find a proper partner, he hides a fake in his house? If this gets out, it’ll ruin our family’s reputation!”
Nancy sighed. “Right now, we don’t need much from him. It doesn’t matter if he’s settled or not, as long as he brings home a decent woman to live with, that’s what really counts.”
Todd pondered for a moment. “If all else fails, why don’t you reach out to Lan again? Ellie can’t have kids because of that punk. They’re in such a mess right now. If there’s a chance for our family, it could be just what we need.”

The couple hadn’t slept a wink the night before, thanks to the ‘dummy‘ on their son’s bed.
Early the next morning, Nancy ran into Joanna, who was grocery shopping at the fresh market near the Thompson residence.
A few minutes later, at a dim sum restaurant next to the market, Nancy brought up Alex and Ellie’s situation again to Joanna.
Joanna, though illiterate, was clear–minded. “Ellie might be my daughter, but your family has raised her for over ten years. This is really up to her.”
Joanna added, “Whatever decision Ellie makes, I’ll support her.”

Around ten in the morning, in the office of the executive president of the Warren Group. Alex was taking a smoke break in the lounge area while his right–hand man, Chris, and trusted aide, Barry, stood there looking serious, glancing at each other, clearly at a loss.
Alex asked, “So you two are just planning to be single for life, huh? No girlfriend?”
Chris and Barry replied in unison, “Looking for one!”
Alex pressed, “Okay then, how do you plan to find one?”
Both were left speechless. Just then, they spotted Nancy walking in, and quickly made their escape.
Nancy tossed her purse on the sofa and exclaimed, “I met Joanna today!”
Alex jumped up.
Nancy continued, “You’d better get your act together and apologize to Ellie. Explain things properly!”
Alex stood up. “Mom, it’s way better if you go instead.”
Nancy shot back, “Is your mother’s face thicker than yours?”
Alex replied, “At least Ellie would talk to you nicely and won’t yell at you.”
Nancy was left speechless.
In the afternoon, Nancy went to several places before finally meeting Ellie at a café near the hospital. The exhaustion was clearly etched on her face.
She took Ellie’s hand and, with utmost bravado, admitted, “Ellie, I’ll be honest–I have my own agendas. The Warren family owes you a lot, and I want you to be with my son. I’m shameless, I know”
Ellic casually withdrew her hand and responded, “Please don’t say that”
She never considered forgiving Alex for what he’d done. But one mistake didn’t mean the whole family had to suffer.
Although Ellie had distanced herself from every member of the Warren family, she genuinely hoped the older Warrens could live well.
“Auntic, no matter what happened between me and him, I can’t consider what you just said,” Ellie stated firmly. “I grew up with you; if you really care about me, stop saying things like letting me give your son another chance. He’s like a walking curse. Being close to him will only bring me disaster!”
After laying it all out, Ellie got up to leave.
Once she was gone, Nancy sat at the table, overwhelmed with sorrow, and began to cry alone.
Then, out of nowhere, a woman sat down in Ellie’s recently vacated chair and handed Nancy a tissue.
Nancy looked up to see a woman with striking blue contacts, her expression darkening. “Who told you to sit here?!”
