Upon thinking of this, Emily felt like she was on the verge of losing her mind.
She couldn’t accept it, nor would she allow Olivia to step foot into the Carter Manor.

After glancing upstairs, Emily turned and left.

When James introduced himself as the sales department manager of Carter Group, she initially thought there was something they needed to discuss.
To her surprise, after the introduction, James said, “Ms. Monroe, we regret to inform you that our collaboration might have to come to an end.”
Olivia thought she must have misheard him. “What did you say?”
James turned to glance at Emily, who was seated on the couch, and found himself breaking out into a sweat.
Had it not been for Emily ordering him directly, James wouldn’t have wanted to make this call at all.
This collaboration was Nathan’s decision. James feared he would be in hot water if Nathan found out about this call he made.
After a long silence without a response, Olivia asked, “Are you listening?”
The voice of Olivia came through the phone, snapping James out of his thoughts. Bracing himself, he once again conveyed Emily’s message clearly.
“The collaboration between us is over.”
He had made himself very clear.
Olivia’s expression turned gloomy, her voice icy as she questioned, “Does your company understand what breaching a contract entails? If a contract is breached, you’ll have to pay a hefty penalty.”
James wiped the sweat off his forehead and responded, “We are well aware of that.”
It seemed that Carter Group was genuinely planning to terminate the collaboration.
Olivia furrowed her brows, asking, “Can you explain why? Is this Mr. Carter’s intention?”
“Yes, it was Mr. Carter who personally issued the command.”
Although she had mentally prepared herself, hearing the definite answer still caused Olivia’s heart to skip a beat.
What is the meaning of this, Nathan? Are you just toying with my feelings?
The entire company had been bustling for so long because of this system, and just last night, they had even agreed to let her inspect it.
Why would they give me the cold shoulder all of a sudden?
Olivia’s face was contorted in rage, she was seething with anger, yet she reminded herself to remain calm.
“Fine. If you wish to break our agreement, then send someone to my office for a discussion. I’m willing to sign the necessary paperwork.”

Upon hearing this, James breathed a sigh of relief and promptly hung up the phone.
He turned to Emily, and reported, “She has agreed, Mrs. Carter.
“Well done.”

Emily wore a smug smile, confident that Nathan would have minimal involvement with that woman if the collaboration came to an end.
Olivia brought Liam back home. She had originally intended to set her work aside and spend quality time with Liam at home, but the sudden phone call from James earlier led to a change of plans.
She crouched down to meet her son’s gaze as she said, “Liam, I have some pressing matters to handle. Will you be a good boy and stay home with Mr. Valtor?”
Although Liam felt somewhat disheartened, he still nodded in response. “Okay.”
He had always been so well–behaved.
Olivia tenderly embraced him, her heart aching as she reassured him, “I will be back to stay with you as soon as I’m done with my tasks. You must listen to Mr. Valtor, okay?”
He nodded in response and kept quiet.
Olivia gently patted his head, then stood up, turning to Tony, she said, “Mr. Valtor, I’m entrusting Liam to you.”
After Tony saw her complexion turn sour following the phone call, he asked with concern, “Are you all right, Ms. Olivia?”
“I’m fine.” Olivia managed to muster a faint smile, gave a few more instructions before she finally left.
