Ethan swiftly acknowledged, “Yes, sir.”
Continuing his report, he added, “Furthermore, the chairman of Apex Innovations has requested a meeting with you, pleading for leniency.”
“Decline them!“.
Two succinct and firm words left no room for debate.
Ethan hesitated, contemplating whether to advise a more measured response, perhaps just teaching them a lesson.
After all, the Apex Innovations boss had already suffered a life–altering injury, losing an arm that night.
Moreover, the company was on the brink of a lucrative collaboration with a German firm on electronic robot research and development, necessitating a significant financial investment.

Nathan nodded in acknowledgment, “Understood. You may head back and rest.”
Ethan nodded in return and exited quietly.
After Ethan left, Nathan poured himself another drink before retiring to his room for the night.
As he settled in, he noticed a WhatsApp friend request from Liam, catching him off guard.
Nathan primarily used WhatsApp for client communication and rarely engaged in chats or other functions.
Nonetheless, he accepted Liam’s request, and he was surprised when the boy initiated a video call.
In an instant, Liam’s youthful face filled the screen, his voice calling out childishly, “Daddy, it’s me…”
Nathan’s expression softened, a faint smile appearing. “Liam? Why are you still awake?”
The little one explained softly, “I was about to sleep, but I waited for a long time and didn’t hear from you, so I couldn’t fall asleep.”
Feeling a pang of guilt, Nathan’s heart softened further as he regarded him with gentle eyes. “I’m sorry, I was occupied earlier.”
“What were you busy with? Working? Daddy works so hard; don’t overwork yourself. Take care of your health.” Liam spoke affectionately, adding, “Mommy also works late every time!”
Nathan’s gaze softened with affection. “Your mommy is very dedicated. Is she still working now? Does she know you added me?”
Liam shook his head, “Mommy is taking a bath. She doesn’t know I added you. It’s a secret! Mr. Valtor set up this number for me today. It’s my personal number! I almost gave up trying to contact you… but I couldn’t, so I decided to contact you secretly to maintain our relationship. Daddy, promise to keep my number.”
Nathan furrowed his brows slightly, momentarily overlooking the little guy’s mention of wanting to ‘give up‘ on him. He spoke earnestly, “I will keep it.”
Liam’s eyes sparkled with joy and he continued hushedly, “Did you see what I sent you today? I really miss you.”
“Hmm?”
Nathan furrowed his brows in confusion. “Did you send me something?”
Thinking Nathan hadn’t seen it, Liam’s disappointment was evident as he quickly replied, “Yes, I did. It was just a small computer program that says ‘I miss Daddy…”
